You had a great reading year. I’ve had the Secret History sitting around forever so I guess I should read it now. I’m happy Frankenstein made it so high on your list. Great video as always!

It was a great reading year. I can't wait to hear your thoughts if you do read The Secret History. Although, I haven't seen it in your Book That Time Forgot series, so maybe Rhonda has it and is hoarding it for her channel. LOL

So glad to find someone who liked The Goldfinch and, like you, The Secret History is probably my favorite of hers.

Loved Blood Meridian but The Road is closer to my heart. Can't imagine reading that book having kids. Frankenstein and Jane Eyre are awesome too. The SEcret History is a top ten all time novel for me, absolutly love it. Working my way with The Goldfinch. Great video!

Wow, what a wonderful year. i cannot get over those Shakespeare covers! Also really fun to hear you speak of Blood Meridian and that you loved it so much. I actually have yet to hear a female talk about/enjoy this book and love that you do!, an all time favorite for me! Cant wait for you to read Moby Dick and talk about it!

Hey Brandon! These editions of Shakespeare covers were designed by the artist Manuja Walida. They are so interesting, minimal, and remind me of neon light and signs. I loved Blood Meridian and the exploration of God, and fatherless-ness, and chaos that the novel explores. I’m thinking about doing a read along with it this year to dissect it in smaller pieces on my channel.

I really enjoyed your video, as always. While I'm not a Donna Tartt fan, I think I'll give The Goldfinch another try. I've enjoyed your channel so much and even if I don't always agree with your opinions, you express them beautifully. I hope 2022 is an even better reading year for you.

Hi Janice. Thank you for your kind words and thank you for watching. How was your reading year? What was your favourite read of 2021? Did you re-read any Faulkner or Tennessee Williams?

@@ItsTooLatetoApologize For me, my best read of 2021 was Moby Dick. I finally conquered the book that had stymied me for so long and it was actually really great! I don't know that I can top that this year but I hope to! XD

@@ItsTooLatetoApologize Just so much! 😃 It was boring as all hell at times to read, but it was ultimately so rewarding! 😂 I really admired the cosmic scope of it and the gnostic elements which I was definitely not anticipating. I also thought Ahab was probably the greatest character in all of American fiction. It really was one of the deepest and most profound things I'd ever read. It would be way too long a comment to say *all* the things that struck me about it here, but if you're interested you might enjoy my analysis video that I did of it called "Moby Dick: A White Whale and a Black Theodicy". I tried to cover in that video the whole breadth of the work and what struck me about it. (And it ended up being almost as long as the book! 😂)
