neat. Diamond tetras look really pretty if hit with natural sunlight.

What is the wattage on the light? Do you run it for six hours?

Those are two led lights of 20w each running at about 70% power for 6 hours.

@@droeksonfishkeeping thank you. Just about 1 watt/gallon then.

You could probably get away with a single LED if you had it higher over the tank to ensure better light spread and ran it on 100%. If the tank was only 1 foot back to front one would probably also be ok, this is just a slightly deeper (back to front) tank hence the 2 leds to avoid dark spots.

How often do you do a water change on this 29 gallon with a deep soil substrate and do you find 6 hours light is enough for your plants to flourish?

6 Hours work well for me on this particular tank with the lights on around 60% brightness. Much more and the algae gets a foothold. Depends on the type of light and plants you have. I always start with around 6 hours and tweak it from there. I do a 40% water change every four weeks. When I first set it up (used a filter already run in on another tank for an instant cycle) I did that water change weekly for the first month or so until I could see the nitrates coming down. It takes a while for the anearobic bacteria at the bottom of the deep substrate to develop. With other tanks it took two months.
