I have wanted the Ken Onion for a long time. My biggest concern is grinding my knives down to nothing eventually. Maybe a video on how to determine how much sharpening is necessary and how often? I would appreciate it.
@CentralOregonSurvival
7 жыл бұрын
Mmmm I am still getting used to it, so I don't know how it will do in the long run. They have a really cool starter flow chart, that stops you from ruining your knife and grinding it down. The speed adjustment and belt grit is important, which the chart explains speeds, belts, and knife type. But, I will also work on a video for you on how I maintain my knifes, when, why and how... Thanks buddy

This belt sharpener looks like it will be a huge timesaver for sure. Of course it won't take the place of a sharpening stone when one is in the field. But something I will definitely look into because I'm all about saving time. Thanks for sharing brother.

Nice Todd, I think I need to learn a stone first, then move on to a Lansky system followed up with something like this. You're bored certified brother and you deserve one of these motorized units. Thanks for sharing what your setup and dropping more knowledge, thumbs up always!

Thanks brother, and great point, I also think you should learn a good stone, or start with the lansky, you will never go to a flat stone... I have used one for many years now and is still my go to. I do love this new sharpener, mainly because of the time it saves me. I think the lansky puts a longer lasting edge on your blade for sure. Thank you

I came into my man cave to sit down and put the edge on two knives I just made. I turned to the computer to let some videos run while I sharpen and what are the odds??????? Im using the lansky system but I would not be averse to anything that does as good a job for way less effort.

Ha ha ha!!! Perfect timing!!! Nice, I love my lansky sharpener... But I needed a way to keep up with all my knifes, not just the bushcraft, survival knifes. I am still getting used to it, so I can't really give a full report yet, but so far I love it. I don't know how effective it would be on re-angling a blade, but we will find out. I will do an update video here real soon. It may match up really well with your large belt sander with the rounded beveled edge it cuts. Thanks BC for coming by!!

Now I really don't know what I want. I have a linsky kit on my amazon wishlist, but there were so many different kits, I don't even know if it is what I want. I'm thinking that The WS field sharpener would be a good portable tool, and it would be cool to have the Ken Onion on the workbench. Concerned that the belts might be to aggressive...thoughts? Great vid man...TFS
@CentralOregonSurvival

LOL... Sorry if I confused you on your decision a bit. So, I have the lansky and love it!! It does take sometime, but puts a better edge on the blade in my opinion, but the Ken Onion saves me time. The Ken Onion puts a great edge on in a timely manner, but I will still use my lansky from time to time when I want to get personal with my knifes, "so to speak". I would go with the lansky if you don't have that many knifes, and you have the time to sit down and sharpen. I just don't have a lot of time and the belt sharpener really speeds things up!! They have a knife sharpening diagram for the Ken Onion, so you don't destroy your knifes or take to much material. And yes the WS field sharpener is awesome... I hope that helps a bit... Thank you for watching

Your right...I don't need a "production" sharpener like that. I think the lansky kit and a small field sharpener will serve me fine. Thanks much for the response. Peace.

well my first experience with it was at a sportsmens show wen they were new to the market the gentleman showing the product sed he was the oner of the company but i don't now that for a fact he ask me if i would like a demonstration and he sharpened my pockit knife but he put a big divot in the blade and he just brushed it off like it was something wrong with the metal on my knife and i ask what he was going to fix it he just tried to get me to leva his booth . but i love your vid even if i don't always like the product you are showing
@CentralOregonSurvival

Well that sucks... I would of gave you a sharpener or bought you a new knife!! Hell it was the sportsmen show, lots of knifes... Oh it is ok if you don't like the product buddy, I was just curious why? I use KZitem to grow, and learn, and I learn the most by my subscribers. That is why I do it, I don't make a whole lot of money at it, maybe 1 or 2 an hour, maybe if I am lucky.. LOL I will never be one of those big channels, but I will enjoy the people... Thank you
