I'm just getting started in KDP and videos like this really help. I never watch videos over 5 minutes, I thought I'd just watch a little bit, and I ended up watching the whole video. You did a great job breaking down the different aspects of KDP. Good luck with promoting with social media, I think that's a great idea. And good luck with your yearlong goal.

Thank you so much! I think it is so helpful to see what someone that is newer to the game is doing when you are trying to launch it yourself. I will have one of these coming out every month after the 3rd for you to check out :) Best of luck to you as well!

Really nice results, the month with profit is really great. Also, your top book will be ranked better because with all the organic and ads sales. Great job! Good luck in the future to come with the first video where you will have 1k in profit/ month

I didn't hit my goal, which was a bummer, but super excited that I was able to profit. I am very excited about Q4! Hopefully my top book will continue to grow and some of my new books will join the high royalty party :)

Hi, Rebecca! Thank you so much for such an inspiring video! I am new to KDP as well. I have a few questions to ask you since you're more experienced than I am. Do you run auto ads or manual ads? Do you run separate campaigns for each book or put several books into one campaign? Do you keep your bids below the Amazon's suggested range as many youtubers suggest or not? Your results are impressive. Keep up the good work! New subscriber here 👍

Welcome! I am happy to have you here :). I run both auto and manual ads. I start the bids around $0.20 and then raise them until they start to spend. I have separate campaigns for all my books and am running lotto style campaigns as well. If you watch the Q4 ad strategy video, it is very high level, but you can kind of get an idea of how I am currently running my ads. Ads are all about trial and error. What works for one book may or may not work for another. :)

Thank you! For interiors I use either canva (without elements) or BookBolt. I prefer to build the pages in canva and then use bookbolt for the KDP formatting.

Ahhhh, don't worry about the goal to much. You had a busy month as well. But great on hitting the profit thing though! Seems you are making about 3 to 4 bucks profit per book? Would love to know price or profit you have on the low / no content books. So many of those, I just go for 40 to 60 cents profit on them, because you just need to be as low if not lower than the thousands of other books on there. To me those books are just gravy!!! I told you after last months how to see total sales from the KDP dashboard, ads and organic number, simple. No manually adding up number of each book times selling price. Did you forget? I hope your ACOS un under 45% for October!!!! If you are advertising your top book, maybe stop, or drop spend on per click by a large amount. It must be on page 1 or 2 at worst I would guess? How many of those books are through ads and are organic? Increase of books sold as well, amazing! Great video once again. (Get 8 books up this month lol, even if 4 are low content!
@EmpiresFromHome

Yeah, I was thinking that I should do a round of lower content books to add to my medium contents to beef up sales. My low content books have a $1.20-$1.60 royalty on them and $3-$4 on my mediums is accurate. I did forget about your tip for finding sales totals! I will try and remember for next month lol.
@MarkB33313

@@EmpiresFromHome That means your low no content books are 6.99 to 7.49 if 100 pages roughly. But look at competition, you have to be way lower than them to get sales in them to get your rank up there. Think I said before over 80% of my books are low content, I am happy to make 50, 60 70 cents and price under 6 bucks for something I did little with, and is just evergreen sales and no ad spend really at all. You can always raise the price later if your low content book ends up on first couple pages, 20 or 30 cents for a bit and later another 20 cents. I kind of wonder your medium content books that only get the odd sales, you do ads, but honestly, I would be dropping those books down 2 or 3 or 4 bucks for 2 or 3 weeks and see what happens, instead of making 3 to 4, you make 1.50 to 2 instead. I bet you, you get more sales and without increasing ad spend on them. Bet you, bet you, bet you!!! LOL. Again you can slowly raise later when they have high rankings. I know you are not greedy and not looking for get rich scheme and mislead people, best thing about you is you are honest. But to many people listen to others or don't think long term or spend way to much on ads, when most times, they maybe should be happy with 1 buck or a buck 25 a book initially. If you are 2 bucks cheaper than others, and similar book, whose do you think they will buy in most cases? Anyways, that is my 3 cents, and I expect change from that 3 cents lol. Try what I said I above, on half of your low moving medium content books, lower price to make 1.25 or 1.50 max (personally I would do a 1 profit). See what happens over 2 or 3 full weeks. You have to keep ad spend the same though. Also look at top of search % in your ads as well, another important number to see where ads are placing. I don't think you have mentioned it in the past, I could be wrong.

Hi, thank you for you transparency. It's very helpful for someone like me who is also just starting out. Do you mind sharing the click through rate for your ads (clicks/impressions)? I just turned on ads and I'm getting impressions, but no clicks just yet. I suspect it's because of my cover, but I have no idea what to expect.
@EmpiresFromHome
11 ай бұрын
The click through rate is very dependent on the book and niche you are publishing in. How I tend to set these ads up is I start all my ads around $0.20 bids and then let them sit for a day. If the ad does not spend at that CPC then I increase it 10% and follow the same pattern until it starts spending and getting clicks. I also don't look at impressions too much because I care more about the click to sell ratio than the impressions. I hope that helps guide where your ads need to sit. Don't discredit your cover yet. I would let it sit for a month or so before you change those.
@EmpiresFromHome

Maybe I am blind, but I cannot find a way to attach an image to this comment. So strange! Most of my CPC are sitting are in the $0.25-0.56 cent range for the portfolio average. My total impressions for the month were 339,793 across all books.

I don't know if this is 100% accurate, but Amazon went through a big push of pulling down and blocking books that had Canva elements (paid elements) because of Canva's terms and conditions. Since then Canva has updated the terms, but you have to use multiple elements of the paid versions in order to sell it. So all this to say, this is just a theory, but I have purposely not used Canva elements to make my books just to be safe berceuse of all this. I only use Canva to design the outline of some books and then move everything into Book Bolt. Other reasons it could have been rejected is the Author name or there is another book that is very similar to it and they are worried it will be confusing for customers. Did they send you an email explaining why it was blocked?
@Soxieaus

Even free elements need to be layered, best yo just use fonts shapes that's it
@EmpiresFromHome

I've heard there are issues with some of the fonts too. So many rules! I really wish Amazon would be more clear about what you need to fix when they send those emails and had better customer response teams.
