That first tank is absolutely stunning man! I had a 200 and 150 gallon combo where i managed to pull off something like that one almost perfectly and to a significantly less successful extent in the smaller 150 tho. im talking about how you managed to set up an environment where the tanks def a bit over-populated, but because it's in a large enough of a tank they still have plenty of room to move around in and because for the most part those are haps and Peacocks (which are really ideal for this sort of environmental set-up), and what though this does s it keeps any one or two slightly larger or more aggressive occupants to start establishing territory and possibly becoming hyper-dominant - which is something that can easily happen with African cichlids unfortunately. it' a sweet-spot of sorts, cuz you don't wanna go overboard and have the fish going crazy and eventually tearing eachother to pieces - and nor do you wanna have so many full-sized male florescent-colored Malawi cichlids, (many of the same or at least similar sort of coloration and pattern), who of course - since they have such stunning coloration they are therefore males who are gonna have enough room to establish and then viciously defend a territory or even become so hyper-dominant that they take over the whole of the tank and chase down or beat to shit any and all "intruders" - aka tankmates. It's a delicate balance - that's for sure. It's easier for Haps and peacocks though due to the fact that they are both primarily open water swimming fish and most haps for that matter are piscivores for that matter. Depending on which ones your talking about, they are both pretty damn easy-going fish who are phenomenal tankmates to one another and to those of their same species for the most part, of course this is excluding breeding/courting behavior. I say most of the time, cuz i have had examples in smaller tanks than those two along with that 150 i had mentioned - where at one point my Electric-Blue Sciano., who strangley tolerated two other big blue "fryeri" males but took over the tank and was hyper-aggressive toward everybody else including number of peacocks, smaller haps, a few Mbuna at one point, and even one of what's ussually a far more aggressive hap - a large male Venustus- who happened to be the exact same size as he to boot and yet he too was bullied all over the place! So yeah, u never know man! But, yeah that 200 i said i housed a larger and even more brilliantly colored both Electric-Blue and Venustus - along with: a brightly colored blue Copad. azereus, two blue regal peacocks, a bi-color peacock, Proto. Imperial Tigress, 2 Super-Red empress, 2 fusco, 2 ethelwynnae peacocks, Copad. trewavasae Mloto, 2 Copad. borleyi, red-top peacock, 2 flametail peaock, 2 sunshine peacock, Aul. jacob. - Swallowtail, Compressiceps, and finally a couple Cytocara moori.... (Yeah - in case you couldn't tell i love th brightly colored blue haps and peacocks of Malawi lol). That core sett-up remained pretty fuckin stable for a long ass time too seeing as how they also were pretty damn close to one-another in age which meant sadly, when they started dying of old-age - yea they all died off really quick. And even sadder i just never found the time nor do i have the financial recources to repopulate that tank since and eventually sold it along with the other big 150g a lil while back. Great tank man

thanks for your words , Jesse you sound very passionate for this hobby, what I did now is get rid of all females, and the tank is very peaceful , also play a little with the temperature trying not to put too high to slow his metabolism and be a little more calm. also I don't put hidden spots that way they don't fight for it.

This is overstocked even for an African cichlid tank..most fish are juveniles though so it may work for a while but this is unsustainable.
@GSP-76
5 жыл бұрын
@Byron Simpson it'll never work when the fish grow...each one of those fish hit up to 6-7 inches as adults...that tank absolutely cannot sustain that many fish.
