Good luck, the best advice I would give to someone after tech school is keep focused on the things that really matter. There are so many directions one can be pulled in the military, the focus and commitment has to remain, for the individual aspirations and for people we are working with. The military offers a lot of good opportunities to practice leadership.

I'm glad I watched this, definitely something I need to hear. I just signed my contract and I'm waiting for my BMT dates and I feel like I'm eager to move forward, but I like what you said about being grateful for your current situation. Gonna take in life for what it is in the moment. Good luck with the rest of your AF career, you got a new sub 👍

The dorm room looks exactly the same as it did when I was at tech school at Keesler AFB…..in 2005. Except my dorm had 4 beds in it. Yep, I shared that one room with three other people. We were climbing on top of each other, and no not in a fun way lol.

I pulled the four and always regretted not going back for the other 16 , I had planned on the last 16 years as an officer.. and I earned the college degree. But didn't go back to the air force I hould have. So stay the twenty plus, it will be gone before you know it.

I was looking up my old videos (Drill Team) at Keesler (Dark Knights, Ahh!). Crazy how time flies. As of the recording of this video I was there 10 years prior. PS To anyone reading this, taking pictures, videos, capture those memories (yes, live in the moment too). But I think your future self will thank you. I know I am. Then again, I'm a youtuber so it was very natural to record stuff.

All personnel should understand that passing every aspect of training is mandatory. Therefor goldbricks, slackers, goof offs and sickbay commandos beware! Flunking anything puts us at risk of being commandeered to the fry cooks. Permanently.

Hey man your room is really nice. This is a basic question. Having a roommate is it based on the rank or what is process like. Thx
@thelifewithkev
2 жыл бұрын
Hey bro, so it is kind of based on rank. Everybody in the dorms is E-4 or under. You guys don’t have to be the same rank with your roommate(who you share a bathroom with), but they will be the same gender as you. It’s a random selection from there. You’ll be put wherever there’s a free room.

Getting bused to tech school with the same job as you, do you have any tips about tech school or otj
@thelifewithkev
2 жыл бұрын
Whatsup man, I would say pay attention in class and study, a lot of that knowledge is useful once you go operational. Also, talk to and get to know all of your instructors. They’re all our jobs, and can tell you what it is really like being operational, as well as their deployment stories or just daily military life. Get involved in tech school too. It’s a great way to meet people and get leadership experience. Have fun, leave base if you can, tech school is a blast.

@thelifewithkev

Yup, there are always sports competitions going on year round. In tech school and operational. That clip was from an Olympic day we had in tech school, but there’s basketball, volleyball, softball, flag football and more tournaments once you get to your duty station.

Do you have freedom in tech school? Like is it strict like basic training or is it more laid back?
@thelifewithkev
Жыл бұрын
Tech school is a lot more relaxed compared to basic training. It is considered the transition period from basic to the regular operational Air Force. You will still have some things that come from basic, like marching everywhere during the duty day, formations, curfews, and the usual customs and courtesies, but you have a lot more time to yourself as well. A lot of people make great friends as they move through there technical classes, and get to explore the area they are stationed at as well.

Man I can’t lie I been out of school for 10 years I’m almost 30 and I know I can handle BMT and the rest of the beginning stages but I’m intimidated by a school experience is Tech School like they just overwhelm you with class work home work and tests and if you get bad grades do they kick you out I always do research before I sign up for anything but I’m just kinda worried I never been the best book smart I grew up on the streets so I’m street smart but I am aware that reading is important

Its not that way, just read and reread the material you receive. And read it again. By the way I was class leader at tech school
