Hi there, really like the arcades. Just wondered if you could let me know what you used for the white covering? Is it paint or vinyl wrap or something else? Hard to tell from the video. Also where did you get the marquee graphics? Did you design them or buy them off the shelf? I'm thinking of doing similar but putting led strips behind to illuminate it. Thanks a lot and great video, it's give me lots of inspiration to upgrade my fight stick style pi based system
@eldon226

Lawrence Dickens I used Matte white and Matte black vinyl (oracal 651). I tried paint when I first started building arcades but I like vinyl way more. Just be sure to have a smooth surface free of any debris before you apply it. I created the marquee from scratch using gimp (similar to photoshop).

Eldon, love your arcade builds! Can you provide any more information on specifically how you mounted the trackball with no visible hardware? What screws did you use? Was the back of the control panel routed out, and to what depth? Was the vinyl just trimmed to the edge of the hole, and is there any trim ring to cover the edge of the hole? Thanks so much for any assistance!
@eldon226
6 жыл бұрын
eviljasor1 thank you, I router the bottom and left about 1/8 of an inch in the area that holds the trackball housing. I used a thin later of wood glue to reinforce that routed area even though it might have not been necessary. The vinyl was applied before the trackball so that I could wrap it around and under the hole for the ball. I used epoxy to permanent mount the upper portion of the housing to the wood, that way the housing can still be separated in case I decide to change the ball, clean out dust, or do repairs. No screw was used for mounting the trackball. Sorry I don't have any video of this process.

If you plan to use mame advance for your trackball games you might need to do a little more work, take a look at this video kzitem.info/news/bejne/0qOAr4iqj1-TdGk its for setting up the light guns with advance mame but the same works for some trackballs as they are all mouses. also keep in mind that i am still on version 4.2 of retropie and haven't been keeping up with the update because i have no intention on updating mine.

@@slliks67 once you're actually doing it you'll see what I mean. The trackball housing has two half clipped together that can be separated to open it for cleaning or replacing the ball. The epoxy should only go on the half that'll rest on the control panel.
