Hey from the UK! I've watched a couple of 'bedroll' videos in the last few days and I'm inspired to give it a bash. I'm heading out to Hungary for some adventures in the national forest so I'm going to try it out there!

There are certainly numerous ways to enjoy a good night's sleep in the woods.....this method is an interesting concept; but just wouldn't work in my application of extended wilderness canoeing in the Northwoods. It's nice though to see that you are carrying on a tradition used before sleeping bags became the norn. I tried the blanket method several times on canoe trips years ago.....learned how to "roll" myself between two 4 point HBC blankets......from John Rowlands, "Cache Lake Canoe Country".....just couldn't bring myself to give up my sleeping bag as this bed roll was just too bulky for my canoe trips...... Thanks for sharing this concept though.

I made my bedroll with a treated canvas tarp from harbor freight and the straps are large dog collars from walmart and a leash doubled over, fitted with another dog leash clip via a larkshead knot on the clipless end, then covered with 550 cord in cobra knots. Everything in the bedroll was inexpensive as I went with 80% wool blankets and an old sheet. That strap setup cost me less than $15 and the time to wrap the carrying strap with paracord. Cost was paramount as I am unemployed, but the project was fun and useful nonetheless.

@@dirtyscoundrel2013 some liked the intro and had no problem with the length. So shockingly the world doesn’t revolve around you and what you prefer but if you had watched a more recent video than this one, you will find there are no intro’s. At the time, several years ago when this video was posted, intro to videos was common practice and the length of the intro’s was very similar to the length of this one. Things change, fads come and go and hopefully we become more understanding, respectful and less self centered. Thanks for stopping by.
