And TC. Haven't seen three TC pedals on a board for a while. That said though, Strymon are the best for a reason. And you can't fault Bill at all for wanting to use the best. I think I was more surprised that he didn't use a dedicated looper though. But it still worked beautifully.

I am so looking forward to those up coming meditations, Bill. What I particularly liked about this video is how it deconstructed the anatomy of how you design your signature sound. The way it built up at the end with the pitch down octave adding weight for the dancing granules - that was something special!

A great presentation of the construction of an ambient pedalboard. I built a couple of PBs, but I see that it is time to add at least one effect (Octaver). I built a TC Electronic PB with 14 effects over the Christmas holidays, relatively cheap effects with a nice sound. Of course, the Strymon brand is synonymous with technical quality and super sound. My personal peak in terms of possibilities and which I have realized (older amateur, below average guitarist, but still enthusiastic) is so far with EHX. Thank you very much for the inspiring video. Greetings Pavel CZ and I wish you a nice weekend. . PS the Strymon power supply is great, from my layman's point of view, I dare to recommend the Caline Scuru Power type to some colleagues, I have it in 3 PB and it can handle a lot so far, it is sufficient for my type of amateur.👍👍👍🎸

Do you put the volume after your "amp" pedal because you really just want to control the volume and not your gain stage as well? I always have my volume before my gain pedals right after my compressor because it sounds more "natural" to me ad like the way a volume pot on the guitar behaves. Do you put it afterwards because of how the eBow interacts with your signal? Just curious. Again, great video. Maybe post a full improv of this board next?

I do drive, volume pedal then compressor. I like how the volume pedal interacts with the compressor. I hadn't thought of putting it after the amp. I guess it's like controlling the volume of the amp instead of the pot on the guitar.

Hello Bill, since you have many feet of cable connecting all those pedals, do you turn on the buffer that’s in the Strymon Dig or El Cap or your Polytune 3? I’ve been told one loses top end after every ten feet of cable so I’m curious how you combat this. I’m assuming that through the true bypass pedals & cables, you have easily 30 feet of cable from your guitar into your interface. Like you, I’m ready to increase my pedal board size. The timing of this video is perfect. Thanks for teaching us how you go about it. 👍🏻

Good point about the buffering. I will generally experiment with the pedals to see which buffering configuration works best. In this case, the volume pedal is an active buffered circuit, so all good there.

interesting. i have a similar setup but my amp modeler end of chain. did you try that too? why do you prefer the position of the iridium here?
@chordsoforion
5 ай бұрын
I normally prefer to put all time based effects after the amp sim so they do not get distorted if I decide to dial up the gain on the amp sim. In addition, the frequency response of the delays and reverbs are not bound by the frequency response of the modeler's cab sim. But certainly, putting the sim at the end is an option if you prefer a more traditional signal chain. It's all about getting the sound you like!
@Musicislife668

I would have put the iridium last since it's an amp sim.

Im surprised there aren't any Old blood noise endeavors pedals on this board. The Microcosm is a fantastic pedal and hate to say it but the best $400 you can spend for ambient music. Curious why you choose the Strymon Compadre over a Cali76 varient? With a pedal board there are no wrong answers there is just a playground of fun. Thanks for sharing.
@shitmandood

I’ve had the Microcosm a few years now and I’ve found it pretty hard to use. It has this tenacity to take over the sound, so anything you feed it just turns into a microcosm. Make a few songs with it, and they all sound the same 😆
