I read some great advice recently that reading the Bible is different than studying it. Now my “reading plan” clips along quickly while my “studying plan” moves slow. I love having the balance of both in my day, since they service different purposes.

Hi Jenna. What a wonderful way to study plus it is so colorful! I am reading my Bible for the 3rd time all the way through. I am now in Numbers. The Old Testament gets easier the more you read it. But it still is difficult at times. I read my Bible first then I go to my journaling Bible and create. God Bless you. You are a joy to watch and listen to. Have a Blessed weekend🌺

I have read every book of my bible but I have never read it from the first to the last word. However, I found a chronological bible and that took me every step of the way from beginning to end without reading word for word. I enjoyed every moment of it. This works for me for reading my way through the bible.

Thank you! You are the only one who actually addressed the issue of bible journaling. People get so lost in the painting and the drawing the whole purpose of it, which is to STUDY the bible is lost. Also the drawing is over the text so, I wonder how do you even read the text. I really appreciate this video and you for addressing that point. Well done sister. God bless you!

Great ideas! I especially love the little pieces of paper, cut to fit, and taped to the sides..... Mid-August, I decided to read the KJV straight through, from Genesis to Rev, and my goal is to do it before December 31st. It's October 3rd today, and I'm at Chapter 8 of 2nd Kings, just reading as much as possible every day. I'm doing this to get a quick overall view of the Bible, then starting in January, I will start a more in-depth study. If you start feeling bogged down, I definitely recommend a quick read of the entire Bible! God bless.

don't feel bad (I know you said you aren't but others may be...) because someone explained once that a reading plan is for reading - not studying! so the 1 year reading plan is a guide for prayerfully reading through not for doing a read and in-depth study in a year! what a relief! I tend to want to look stuff up though but I make myself stick to my one year reading then go and study something that catches my eye when I have more time. I love color myself - I find I focus better highlighting and underlining when studying. I use colored pencils a lot for highlighting but they're not 'shiny'!

I love this video. You are very motivational. I have 1 issue though. Please be careful with your Frixion markers. I know the pens will erase with just heat. So leaving them in the sun will make all your work completely disappear. I learned this the hard way. Do the markers work the same? I haven't used the markers yet. I usually take notes in my bible with the Frixion pen, then come home and rewrite them in real ink, then blow my heat tool on the page to make all the other stuff erase. I would just hate for someone to spend months studying their bible and taking notes, only to leave it in the car and have all that work disappear. Since you have been using the markers for a while, do you know if heat will erase it??

Jenna, thanks for pointing me to the Jesus Bible; right after your video, I bought one (in the lovely robin's egg blue imitation leather), and all of the extras are proving very helpful. I also like the way you use color when you study. I do have one question, though. How do you handle cross-references, particularly between books? For example, I listened to a sermon on prayer today, in which the pastor looked at two different Psalms and then went to Zechariah. I highlighted all 3 verses in the same color, but at the moment, my notes are only next to the first verse he touched on. I did write the cross-references in my notes, but I'm wondering what will happen when I decide to study the entire book of Zechariah. I'm going to come to the highlighted verse and wonder why it is highlighted. It seems very time-consuming (and wasteful of limited space!) to write the same note next to all 3 verses. I suppose I could just write next to those verses a cross-reference to the first verse, but I'm interested in what you do.
@ScribblingGrace
6 жыл бұрын
Hi Deborah, That is a good question! I actually haven't put too much thought into cross-references, though now that you brought it up, I think I'll have to work out more of a method for that. A couple times I have written the cross-reference along with the note on the page I'm working on- and then underlined the verse on the corresponding reference, along with a little note pointing back to the current page. If that makes sense. I think that as I find references back to verses in books I have already gone through, I'll add sticky notes or little tip-ins with the reference if there is no space near the verse. It's a little time consuming, but I think it will be worth it :)
