Wow!!! Thank you so so much for your honesty, this is so inspiring to how we should approach our work and our callings. I started a small company in 2003 called Krazyhead guitar knobs, after a five star review from Total Guitar we got a licensing deal with David and Hanser (Kustom Amps) eventually it came to an end, it was so hard to shut down the little shop, and watch my little CNC machine get hauled away. This video touches me deeply. I played in Church this morning with my New Castle 30 I plan on using it the rest of my life so Jackson amps still live!! And I’m adding a Golden Boy next month! Thank you so much for this Video Brad!!

Just had a major penny drop moment here realising Jackson Audio came from Jackson Ampworks! Probably the last person to realise! I think what you did takes a lot of guts, but knowing the right time when to pivot your business is so important. Certainly not a failure, just your original vision had limitations and you were smart enough to see it. You put the viability of your business ahead of your ego, and that can be the hardest thing to do.

Great video! Why did the KZitem Algorithm take so long to suggest this one to me??? It has been painful to watch the demand dwindle for quality tube amps. My whole channel is dedicated to those who still prefer hand-built tube amps. The sound quality of the digital stuff is getting close, but the feeling isn't the same as playing a real tube amp through a real cabinet. I've tried just about every digital amp product, and it always feels like a job for me - not inspiring at all. The end product (recording) might be great, but I don't look forward to the tracking. Let me say that again: I don't look forward to playing guitar (if I have to use digital amps)! On the bright side, Jackson Audio makes absolutely wonderful pedals. The Twin Twelve and Golden Boy are two of my favorite pedals. Hopefully I get a chance to play through a Jackson Ampworks amp one of these days!

Thanks for Sharing. I just ordered my First Jackson Audio pedal, FUZZ from SWEETWATER. Can't wait to add it to my Pedalboard. I also ordered the Goat, as I'm after those Gilmour sounds and tones. Perhaps, it's Time to reinvent the Amp? Start in the Opposite Direction. Try to make a Very Affordable, but Suprb QUALITY Amp. With TONE, GAIN, UMPH, and CLARITY, the Foundation. Some Way of CASCADING Tubes into Tubes, Preamp Section, for Super Rich Complex Harmonics. Build it around the EMMINENCE CANNABIS REX, which has a Really SWEET and PUNCHY BREAKUP, I.e., UMPH. I have a BLACKSTAR STUDIO 10 KT 88, and Man I Love it. I can't even really Crank it up, where I Live, but I can Tell it gets the TONE I'm AFTER. Esthetics Are Great, I Love those Cool Vintagy LOOKS, I mean I really DIG, ART DECO VIBE, but be Creative, find ALTERNATIVE WAYS, Perhaps use VINYL- Like CANNABIS, or CANNABIS CLOTHE? That INDUSTRY Needs to get Promoted, anyway. Just some Encouraging Thoughts. I'm contemplating getting a CANNABIS REX, and trying it in my BLACKSTAR. Or, getting a SEISMIC AUDIO, 2 x 12 Cabinet and Installing 2 of the C. REX, in it. I can Output to 2 16 Ohm Speakers. It's Obvious the AMP VISION, Still has a Place in your Heart-Mind. I Hope you can Manifest it One Day. Perhaps the Pedals can facilitate that Opening. The BLOOM, is Next on my List, but might be a month or 2, I'm really wanting to get a Lefty, Pete Thorn Signature SURH MODEL, not sure I can Swing that, but Looking into it. There's a guy in Sarasota, FL, JERRY'S GUITARS, and he's got a few on order. All the Best!!

After watching this in full and seeing how much it hurt to shut down the amp business I gotta say - the amp market really did change. Not only did the modellers start spreading, but guitar also dropped out of mainstream music in a big way. If you think back to the 00s, there were big rock bands, there were guitars in pop music etc. All that changed massively in the last 10 years. That change does seem to have taken out some massive companies. It is such a shame, companies like Jackson Ampworks made incredible products. I will never get that kind of joy out of a modeller. I love them all, they're so unique and versatile. Unfortunately I was not able to get a matching cab for my McFly before you stopped taking orders. I've been looking online for years. Hopefully some day. Also, it would be nice if you could manufacture the Continuum controller for the Fullerton now that you manufacture pedals. Any chance of that?

I’m sorry we can’t. That was manufactured by an outside engineering firm.

Oh man, I would do just about anything for a shell pink Britain 4.0 So gutted Jackson is no more. 65 amps went too, so many great builders dont seem to be around more. Really regret selling my 65s now. Gonna see if I can pick up a Britain on the used market - but chances of picking one up in shell pink.....doesnt seem likely

Would you ever do another run of amps? Like one of each model you had? I would still love to get my hands on a Scarlett

Ah, the old 'PIVOT' . . . To tell the truth, I personally HATE that word! The dumbest question I was ever asked was "If it's such a good idea, why isn't anyone else doing it?" This is why the MBAs of the world have reduced the collective consciousness to derivative Pablum. The tower of babel does make it difficult to utilize market positioning to defeat competitors for a higher market standing. Bob Dylan once said, "All the great sayings have been said, and all the great doings have been done." To that I reply: "Our job is to find a new way of saying the same old things." This requires tat we know where we are coming from so that we can draw a line from there, through where we are today to be able to turn around and see where that line goes as time progresses forward. It's not so much seeing the future as in intuiting the future. I started creating a streaming multimedia company in the 1980s. Everyone thought I was insane. Especially when I said TVs would become computers. As Arthur C. Clarke said, "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic." The business world is overflowing with cowards who have zero vision. You are refreshing. In 2006 when Netflix began to show that they had first-mover-advantage over me, I was on the doorstep 3 times in the next 5 years. You know that old saying, "Always the bridesmaid and never the bride." I have been so very close only to have it stolen away by the littleness of others. And now, I am preparing for 2022 and beyond. Netflix proved me right in so many ways, including that it is the content cesspool that I warned about a decade ago. I'm still ahead of my time. The time to network is back upon us. If you want to sell amplifiers, sell amplifiers. You obviously don't need the money. Do it for love. And FUN!!! Life is too damned short not to.

I have been searching to find a way to get one of your incredible amps only to come across this video. Such a shame. I confess, in my studio I own a Kemper, A cortex, and an AXE FX but I own Boogies, Fenders, Marshalls, Dr.Z's, Bogner, Friedmans and many more. The Kemper-Types I use for quick recording and I love them but my tube amps are everything to me and the real thing. I would love to have a Jackson Ampworks here but its not to be I guess. Ill look at your pedals as Im sure they are brilliant also. Great words of wisdom and thank you for your video and creations

Can you build a pedal size amp that fits on a pedalboard like Quilter has been building?

Any thought of doing an amp in a pedal? Either with analog speaker simulations or IRS with Britain, mcfly, etc preamp minus the tubes or with the tubes honestly.

They are not failures. Every single one I’ve heard sounds phenomenal. The problem with boutique amps is only the price which is not your fault at all, they are expensive to build and the time definitely warrants the price tag.

Having played a few of your amps and pedals, I would looove to see some of your amp tones recreated in pedal form! Though it would undoubtedly be a challenge, I believe you could very well rise to it.

Man I know. Such a great airplane. That being said I suspect the new single engine turboprops are crushing the entry level twin turboprop market.
