Mad props on your tourney run Wolfgang. That's awesome to hear your dad has pushed back the big C for awhile! You may have a point with some of the spots you mentioned as passive play. How often do you want to be all in w/ AQo types at that point in the tourney? It'll def be interesting to see you playing more tourneys. With this run, you have more ammo to throw at the crushers!

Hi Wolfgang, as you and others know, you did awesome, played extremely well, and congrats to you on cashing the tournament. 1. That AQ top pair vs Boat, river fold was epically awesomely good. 2. A6 with 5 bb shove is a auto semi almost fist pump auto shove. It was the right play. That's all you can do and then let the chips fall where may, and don't matter results as worry about results is wrong results oriented thinking. 3. This is SMALL stuff on how you can do, play even more awesomely better. A. Tho SOME of your cash game play can, does still work in tournament play, timing is a issue. The time to use more semi cash game principles, is when, if have a semi very DEEP stack, and when there immediate semi life change money bump immediate bubble. Shallow stack is usually not time for cash game play. B. This is for both tournament and cash games. It can be, semi is semi riskier, can bust you out sooner. You need to realize, see weakness, exploit that. If players check multiple streets, then bet, you either need to call those bets in those situations more, or if calling is too much of stack, then turn into semi bluff, and reraise or shove. Your semi overfolding in those situations. Yes in tournaments have to be more careful in calling because of shallower stacks, bust out potential, but even with that in mind, your overfolding too much where your opponent has shown a lot of weakness and then bets. You still need to value call occasionally, even when deep tournament, close to final table, even if doing so might semi cripple stack, etc. And that's situationally read dependent. C. As you noted, you were too passive at times. You have to be more selectively semi aggressive at times in tournaments. D. Related to C above. Example. The hand where you had either top pair, middle pair, and you semi wanted to call, but semi wanted to fold, and the bet size was about 150k, and you said was too much of your stack to call, and so you folded. In that hand, Villain checked 1,2 times, showing weakness, then bet. Yes they might be slowplaying, yes they might have you beat. But they could easily still be weak, after all they did show weakness, and easily could be bluffing. So what do you do when borderline, want to but can't, semi shouldn't call, don't want to fold, semi can't fold, semi shouldn't fold, because shallower stack, etc? Well your opponent showed weakness, so unless they are slowplaying, they probably have a hand they will probably fold, if you turn your hand into a Semi value bluff shove and shove all in their face. That especially can, semi does work close to money bubbles, close to final table bubbles, etc. Sometimes you have to be more aggressive like that, even tho it's riskier, can bust you, etc, if you want to chip up, go even deeper in tournaments. The reason why that's so important to do selectively, is that if don't do that, your chipping down until you have to shove a 5 to 10 to 15 bb stack. Squeeze shove plays like your KJ all in squeeze shove, was good. Yes someone might be slowplaying, limp calling, etc, beat you, etc, but more times then not, that KJ shove squeeze, will either scoop pot preflop, or can win a flip. If do those things can chip up some, and then either be more semi selective, not worry, not have to deal with CARD DEAD times, and can be more aggressive, semi bigger stack players around deeper in tournaments. E. While betting 1/3 pot, checking, slowplaying, etc, on DRAWY boards, for limit size of pot, pot control, can work in cash games, and when super DEEP STACKED, in the right situations, against right players, most of the time, doing so in tournaments gets, can get you busted out. That why need to bet at least half pot, and 3/5, 2/3, 3/4, Pot, 1.5 Pot, in some situations, situationally, and why you need to make merge multi purpose bets of 1.Protecting Hands from Draws. 2. Making Draws pay too much. 3. Extracting more value. 4. Where if call you great. Your getting money/chips in good, if fold to you, still good, you picked up a good pot, didn't get busted out/didn't lose a lot of chips to either a draw, made, completed draw, straight, flush, etc. F. You probably already do this, but study your hands, and try to learn, do things like the things my comment about, etc, and if you do that you'll become a even better poker shark, and over the long term, do even better, in addition to your awesome play, bink, cash of this tournament, and in addition to your being awesome one of best, if not best poker blogger. Hope this not too long. Hope this constructively helps, not only you, but others here, and hopefully reminds players like myself, helps me, others, everybody, etc. Again this is small stuff, overall you did wonderful, congrats again to you Wolfgang. I was cheering rooting for you. And I have watched, been watching you from the beginning overall, and you have come a long ways, and nice to see that all of us, including me, etc, have helped you along, whether by just watching, or by making helpful comments that have either encouraged you, helped you improve, etc. So happy for you Wolfgang. Keep it up. I know you'll do that. Thanks for the videos, and everything you do.
