hey man, great idea. but idea like to give one more small tip. plastic is horible for subwoofers. it is literally canceling out alot of frequencies that would make it 100 times clearer. a tip to help is get a can of spray on bed liner, or liquid dynomatt and spray the entire inside of the box with 2 or 3 layers letting it sit about 20 25 minutes between coats. let it sit for over night after final coat. add the polifill back in, put sub back in, and you will notice an insane difference in bass response and sound quality. great idea tho and amazing car! thanks for sharing

That magnet on the subwoofer was tiny because it's a neodymium motor structure. I'm NOT standing up for Bose products, though. I feel they are overpriced cheap drivers with lots of EQ added to make them sound "good". However, don't let a tiny magnet like that fool you these days when it comes to any speaker drivers. A neo magnet is a much better performer that a ferrous magnet. Much stronger, and a more linear magnetic flux.

It is common knowledge that Bose puts more on the sound quality than the bass.. the louder you turn your speakers on, the bass will be more quiet to avoid the distortions. And that is something what is a standard by Bose. Some people miss the basses in the purity of the sound but luckily each individual has its own taste.

I have the B&O on my Q5 and it sucks. Mids and highs are great but for low end deep sounding bass, its subpar at best. I had to adjust base near the top and turn up my volume to maximize the enjoyment out of it and little do you know after doing that for 7 years, i've blown on of the rear driver speakers a week ago. Sigh... I wonder what Audi is going to want me to fix that garbage ... probably a partial mortgage payment. I'll be looking to replace with good quality aftermarket speakers instead. Nice S7!

Hey I'm in highschool and I have a lifted f150 and we have some problems with it but that's not why I'm commenting. Is the Audi s7 a good car. Is it fast and does it come factory with a subwoofer. And if I get a 2014 what big tech things and other things will I be losing. Do the 2014 come with subs?
@djpeak10
7 жыл бұрын
The C7 platform seems to be very reliable with what I have seen! Yes it does come with a factory subwoofer, 2 different system options, Bose or B&O and both have subs in the trunk by the spare. If you go with a 2014 here are the things that you would not get that the 2016+ have. Alcantara door inserts, usb connections in center console, New MMI, google maps in between gauges on cluster, new headlights and taillights, new front and rear bumper, 30 horsepower, Option for painted red calipers, and Apple car play. Thats everything that comes to mind at the moment. Hope this helps.

ARE YOU SERIOUS??? Now that I have your attention... Jesse, you seem like a good guy. But we need to clear some stuff up. The title of your video just says "My Bose stereo sucks." But at no point do you EXPLAIN in what way, or HOW it sucks... Does it not get LOUD enough? Do the high notes pierce your eardrums? Does all the music you play sound artificial -- or flat? Do human voices sound like they're on speakerphone??? You simply make a generalized statement, and that's it, with no qualifier to base it on. Then, when you go to see your friend, you guys keep talking about how you're going to make it sound "way better"... but WHAT'S BETTER ABOUT IT??? BUt don't worry, I think I can help you out - and anyone else reading this. The thing is, everybody is different. If you listen primarily to bass-heavy rap or pop music and all you crave is BASS, you're going to complain about almost EVERY stock sound system in every car. (After watching the whole video, I'm almost sure that's what your situation is - you tell me) And in that case, NEVER spend money on a factory stereo - just go to Best Buy or a local stereo shop and drop a few hundred bucks. You'll be happier than a pig in **** as you blast your car's interior pieces off with earth shattering bass (and probably irritate the other 99% of the human population, while you're at it). But if you're a DJ and all you do is mix music and listen to levels and reproductions, you're probably going to want a Harman Kardon system or Mark Levinson.. (Harman bought out a bunch of companies so there's various brands at different levels, but to me, they all sound like the same formula - Good clarity, decent power, not much else to speak of)Then comes the self-proclaimed "audiophiles". These people are very into the aspect of faithful reproduction of sound, but do not listen purely for bass and they do not listen specifically to any one kind of music - although they are likely to listen to things that some people would not consider mainstream music by any means. For these people, no stock system sounds good. They cannot eat or sleep until they've spent tens of thousands (or more) to piece together the most amazingly accurate system that mankind can create... according to their own personal priorities. The sad irony of being an audiophile, however, is that for some people, they take it too far. It's like programming yourself to be a critic. You get so accustomed to identifying the faults in everything that in the end, you may never REALLY be permanently happy with anything. Next up, there are people, who really don't stress about the "detail" of sound when it comes to music. They're literally happy listening to music on a tape deck, a record, a speakerphone - doesn't matter. They're just listening because someone is playing a song they like. And for them that's fine. They really will never have to worry about any of this conversation - and funny enough will probably never watch videos like this in the first place. And finally, because this is directly related to this video (Since the subject is that YOU don't like your Bose system) we have to talk about the Bose fans that surely believe in Bose to the degree of a religion. Although there will always be a percentage of people who really are programmed by marketing or by going to a BOSE demo store, there also exists the larger majority of people who actually prefer Bose for a reason. To these people, they sometimes struggle to explain the effect in technical terms or in concepts that everyone can agree upon. But the fact is that what sets Bose apart (and I don't know if there are any other companies that do this) is that Bose approaches the reproduction of sound from a scientific perspective. Every Bose system is acoustically "balanced" according to the principals of psychoacoustics (yes this is a real thing and it's worth googling). What that means is that before Bose ever settled on components or power output, they studied the emotional and psychological reactions that human beings have to different sounds. And after educating themselves on this subject, they've essentially tuned their systems so that the lowest notes are somewhat more forward (in front of the mid-level sounds) but without making it about the punch of a drum and bass kit... more like emphasizing a bass guitar or a cello. after that, they focus on clarity and power, but not at the expense of tonal balance. Anyway, THAT is why so many people seem to love Bose, but can't explain why - the system was engineered to make every song SOUND fuller and more emotional than you've ever heard it anywhere else. And That is ALSO why people who don't listen to music to FEEL a certain way will not care about Bose. All of this leads to one more topic: the "price" for Bose. Once you know a little more about Bose, you realize that they are actually more of an engineering company (in Massachusetts) and they literally spend the majority of their profits on researching the art and science of sound reproduction - all under the original goal of psychoacoustic (which is to say the study of what makes people happy). And while other companies are using carbon fiber or plastics or massive magnets, it's because they're literally competing on paper for either sheer output or bass etc. But for a lot of people, they don't play songs just to use the music to break windows... and that's why Bose doesn't rush to use all of those materials just to "keep up". There's no point. Instead, they focus on ways to get the sound of a real, live Piano and guitar and cello and bass guitar and human voice and cymbals and everything else to sound REAL - all from a smaller package than most people can do for the money. And THAT is what you're paying for. Not to hear loud sounds come from a speaker, but to hear the MUSIC, live, and be surrounded by the presence of the music and to be caught up in the mood and the emotion of the song they happen to chose. At this point everyone who likes Bose is agreeing 100%. And the majority of people who have already made up their minds are not going to be convinced. All I know is that every time I'm out at a restaurant (or an airport or mall or in a car) and I hear a song that I normally don't really think about, and suddenly the song sounds amazing, I look at the speaker and sue enough, it says BOSE. That tells me everything I need to know.

The use of the existing bass enclosure was how to fit the new speaker into that was great - but what would have been nice is to see how you took a 'line level' I presume, from the existing amp, fed it to the new amp and then of course, switched the wires over. I know basic, but before I try and pull things out or invest in the part first - would have been nice to see ! edit: found some instructions: STEP 1: Wire an audiocontrol LC2i (line converter unit) to a power source. Splicing in to the power line that powers your sound system is fine, or you can simply use an add-a-fuse from the fuse box in your trunk. STEP 2: Buy an aftermarket amplifier with the correct wattage and resistance for the aftermarket sub that you choose. Wire an amplifier fuse and amplifier cable directly to the positive terminal of your battery in the trunk, making sure the fuse is less than 18 inches (or less) away from the battery. STEP 3: Have the remote out wire (blue wire) from the LC2i go to the 'remote in' of your aftermarket amplifier. This will automatically turn on the amp when the LC2i detects an audio signal. STEP 4: Take the speaker wires that were going to your OEM sub and route them to your 'line in' terminals on your LC2i. STEP 5: Use RCA cables to connect your now low-level 'line-out' terminals to your aftermarket amplifier 'line-in' terminals STEP 6: Use RCA cables to connect 'line-out terminals' to your aftermarket sub. STEP 7: Enjoy! *Of course, make sure the grounding wires for the LC2i and the amplifier are attached to grounding points prior to powering anything on. (You may wish to play with the gains on your aftermarket amplifer and adjust until you're happy. There are technical ways to do this, but for this mod, tuning it 'by ear' is just fine) So, the LC2i line converter has an 'auto-on' feature, and will turn itself on when an audio input is sensed, and in turn then power-on the amp. Both the LC2i and the amplifier will turn off when you shut down the car.

@djpeak10
8 жыл бұрын
Ok so I had the ML in both of my GS 350's and that system was better then the factory Bose in my S7. Now after the mod My Bose system blows the ML out of the water!! I think this is the key. In a factory Bose system you have to crank up the bass to get anything, but when you do that is starts distorting all of the other speakers. Now after I added the sub My bass is set to 2 dashes below half way, where before it was one click to all the way up. This makes all the interior speakers a lot cleaner and they now have the ability to go to higher levels without distorting.

Do you have a diagram on how the NVX Loc was wired into the system and into the amp? System looks great by the way. Thanks

I did the Bang and Olufsen system on my RS 7 and it was the best call I ever made on it!! I thought the thermal camera would be better especially for safety but the Bang and Olufsen system and the alcantara headliner ended up being the best options I picked and they were the only 2 i wasn't sure about when ordering my RS 7. I even thought they were a waste of money at the time and that i was crazy. Now tho after seeing this I am so glad I spent the extra money for the Bang system. And yes the alcantara headliner is totally worth it and gives it a much different look and feel that you would never expect. Where i live we have so many street lights and with LED headlights the thermal camera is almost pointless i hardly use it unless I'm out in the middle of Kansas! Thanks for the vid!

Might I ask where you live? I live in Leawood but attend college at KU. Currently looking at replacing my car with a C7 S7 or S6 in the spring. I’ve decided LED headlights, driver assistance, and B&O are the options I can’t go without. I work for Molle Audi of Kansas City so I’ve driven just about every modern Audi in existence, the one option that I haven’t decided whether I need or not is the comfort seating package. I love the massage function and the adjustable bolsters, but IMO the diamond stitched seats are BEAUTIFUL. I would be going for black on black or if I can find an Audi Exclusive Paint car, I’d go with Nardo Gray with black interior so knowing Kansas summers, the ventilated seats might be a nice option. Do you have the comfort seat package and if so, what are your thoughts?

Yes, this is very true. I use tidal for all my music and when it plays either in hifi or mastered it sounds truly amazing. I highly recommend play hifi files for your music. You will notice a massive difference in sound.

It's just a subwoofer change. No a big deal. But Bose, B&O, Focal, Cabasse, Monitor Audio, Mission and more than hundred other quality brands, where Polkaudio is included too, are made for serious listening of MUSIC. Not just boom, boom, boom. For this purpose perhaps a Cervin Vega system could be enough.

Similar what I did to my 2013 Chrysler 300c.Comes with the Beats system.Mids and highs are satisfactory.Bass non-existent.Has a Beats enclosure in the trunk with an 8 inch woofer?, midbass?.Also has the same 8 inch on the deck between 2 6x9's.Removed both 8 inch speakers.Left the space on the deck open and wrapped the enclosure in matching grey carpet and added dynamat to inside of the enclosure.Then added an 8w3 and a xd300/1 amplifier....WAHLA!!! BASS!!! Simple upgrade that will hold me for now.Plan on getting another Beats enclosure for the other side of the trunk and get a xd600/1 amp to run them.

Fact of the matter is; almost all factory stereos are not capable of giving you the sound you would get from an aftermarket install with proper amperage. Most factory speakers are pretty decent but the head units and amps used are so under powered it makes them sound like shit. Just changing the amps would make a world of difference, but changing both makes it sound all the better. I have never changed the factory speakers in any car I've owned, just amps, proper filtering and a sub and amp combo and I sound better than some nightclubs I've been to. LOL Of course it helps that I know how to run and terminate all of the equipment myself. Installation can get pricey. I usually leave the false walls, or custom work to the pros, but I would never let any pro wire up, fuse and tweak my sound system. It's all preference and that's where pro installers tend to save a buck. You don't install 8 gauge wiring for a system running over 1600 watts of power. Little things like that are where you can hurt things like the alternator and battery along with other nightmares. Even when I want a custom wall built, I buy the fiber board, fill and materials myself. I only ask for them to do the work.

Bose always sucks, just cheap speakers with a overrated label. Complete vapourware. If you want good home cinema speakers take Nubert ones. With the Tesla's build in ones I'm also very pleased! :)

The bass is at some point enough, like on the bose sound system, why would you want that much extra bass in a car where the space is not soo big like it would be in a room or something

Bose does make good stuff, but it's not in cars. I had a few VWs and Audi's. The Bose sucked. Dynaudio sounded pretty darn good for an OEM system. Now I have a Honda Pilot and 2 kids, and that system sucked. I put Dayton sub, JBL amp, alpine amp, Rockville midranges, and Infinity 6.5" coaxials with 2 front tweeter, and an EQ. sounds unbelievable

Aside from what every one says down below I got a 2020 Q3 with the Bang&Olufsen and it was not worth the money either. You get some bass, but it sounds like the same shit as that bose system. I bet the magnet is the same. I paid the money thinking id be ok with it and I get MINIMAL bass.

Hey there I had a question, I know you don’t have the car anymore but I did this same upgrade but did you ever experience when traveling low speeds or if windows open the sub jus kinda starts goin off a bit? Not sure how to get rid of that noise.
