See two things can be right at the same time. Though Jeannie has said horrible things in the past, she has clarified/taken back her statements, apologizing. She liked black men but was with a white man in her previous marriage. I still feel empathetic towards her because divorce and bein a single mom is never easy; especially when someone didn't want children previously after seeing how damaging her family was to her as a traumatized and SAd child.

Hey everyone, omg this story... I think we should as women protect ourselves a lot more. ( english isnt my first language sorry if i misunderstood things but) Like we shouldn't go cross a continent to see a guy we don't know and that havent proved anything to us yet, take the risk to get pregnant, accept lies and humiliation in front of others (the second wife thing)... We shouldnt accept any of these treatments and keep up with some standards . If we want people to respect us we have to respect ourselves first and know our limits : cut off when we know we are disrespected even if it can be hard because this is about someone u lovED. Leave him , go build your life with your child, make your own money. And you'll find a guy who will respect u if u keep in mind your standards and manage stick to it Plus you're sooo young ! Wish u and yall the best anyway !❤

@@mousetrap-8817 because if he’s still married to his youngest children’s mother and is introducing her as a second wife. There’s a high chance he’s looking for something polygamous and there are people and families that encourage polygamy. If he isn’t then his current wife will become a bitter ex wife who’ll constantly see her as the home wrecker. I mean there’s a reason they’re not divorced it’s either he hasn’t tried or she doesn’t want to part ways with. Also, we’re African and believe what you want, but witch craft is real. The current wife can resort to that to get her way. Lastly he has no problem lying to her now, especially about big things. The chances that he’ll stop when they’re married are ridiculously slim imo. Unless he repents like Paul before they even get married, she should not consider marrying him. Edit: plus that wedding is traditional. Sounds like a front to get a second wife to me.

Jeannie did try to clarify and apologise for the ‘dark meat on the side’ comment and said she meant if she’s meeting guests on the show then that’s her ‘on the side’ because she was a married woman and honoured her marriage. The comment was crazy and absolutely out of pocket but I highly doubt she meant she had black men as side pieces, that seems to have been taken too literally. Also both Jeannie and Feddy married outside of their preferences but loved each other enough anyways. She didn’t think black men were unworthy of being her ‘main piece’ she just happened to fall in love and marry a white guy.

I hate that excuse of "I lied because I didn't wanna lose you," because it implies an assumption about the person that they'd react badly without even giving them a chance to react TO the information. Essence of victim blaming, ya know? I don't even think everyone who says that means to be manipulative per se, but it really does have a sinister vibe.

A point in the video was made that being of faith, believing in a higher power that's keeping them together was made as a positive, but it's a negative. People of faith endure way worse in marriages because religion has them in a chokehold. Religion perpetuates and upholds gender norms, so women end up carrying the brunt of these toxic marriages. Oprah has a network that aired a series called “Black Love”. The show was full of Christians and was supposed to shine a bright light on Black couples. However, anybody who watched the series would know that these women were putting up with massive red flags. They were breaking their neck just to keep a husband because they were women of faith. The amount of femicide, especially at the hands of a partner, is too prevalent to think Christianity will smooth that out. 9/10 Christianity promotes struggle love.

I think people misunderstood the comment Jeannie made and ran with it (I am American btw). It came right after they were talking about how she actually likes black men and always did but her family made her feel like she had to marry a white man in order to have a decent life, that was when she said the attraction never went away even while being with a white man everyday she still “on the side” liked black men, and then side “i like my dark meat on the side” to be funny (she easily coulda said chocolate on the side). No one has a problem with the constant “chocolate, caramel, vanilla” comments people make towards black people but this is what got over analyzed. Also her and her first husband divorce due to infidelity also, another woman was pregnant before the divorce was done. She got married in 2021 and due to COVID didn’t have a wedding but they planned to have a big party. Adrienne on The Real did the same, only few select family and friends were there. Both of them also had destination weddings.

In Islam, sex outside the confines of marriage is considered illegitimate coupling. It is sinful and the person owes you nothing. Whereas with marriage, as a woman you receive dowry and for both people in the couple it saves u from diseases and major emotional turmoil/heartache. The emotional and physical safety of having a spouse is the best incentive.
