Hahahah.. I thought you were going to take the Taxi to your air BNB in George Town? The airbnb looks good for $900 got 20 days... that's like $45 a day. The view of the sea from your apartment is gorgeous! The bedroom was small compared to KL I think... Consistent high speed at internet 200mbps... that's good for those who want to remote work if they can. Sadly, my company won't allow us to work overseas. You're living the life! As for comments about the train not being a true high speed train. What's funny is here in USA.. our trains are SLOW! We long for the days of a train that can even got a decent speed.

I did not take the taxi because there is a direct bus from the ferry station to my apartment. As for the trains speed in USA, Amtrak Acela Express is the fastest Amtrak train service in the U.S. operating in the Northeast Corridor between Boston and Washington, D.C. It can reach speeds of up to 150 mph (240 km/h) on certain sections. Other Amtrak Routes such as those in the Midwest or the West Coast, operate at lower speeds between 60-80 mph (100-130 km/h) which are slower than the ETS trains in Malaysia.

It is not a high speed train. It is just a normal modern electric train.

You are right, it's not a high-speed train, but it was modern and comfortable, which was good enough for the journey!

You find the best accommodations. When you leave, please share the Airbnb link.

I will do that for sure. Searching for accommodations is one of the most challenging tasks when traveling. By the way, the one in Kuala Lumpur is called Lucentia Residence.

You can also find it on booking.com The apartment complex is called Straits Garden Suites and it is about a 10-minute bus ride from the old town. There are two great restaurants nearby: Fatty Lye Seafood and SBK Coffee. If you are staying for more than a week, I would definitely recommend this apartment, but if it is just a few days, you are better off finding a place right in the old town to avoid taking a bus.

Malaysia might be small, but I think a high-speed train could make getting around even more convenient.

The train in Malaysia is great, but it is definitely not as fast as the ones in Japan and Korea. Still, it is a comfortable and scenic way to travel!

ETS is nowhere near the Shinkansen or Chinese HST in comparison. ETS run on narrow gauge tracks that's why it's narrow bodied with just three row seat whereas HSTs are wider like you're on commercial airplane and speed over 400 mph but smooth and very stable.
