I would like to submit 2 things to you. First please don’t give up, find which one of the things you love to do and would do for free, have fun with it and make stuff and sell it without expectation. Just have fun creating. Second, don’t compare yourself. I found myself doing that a lot and I had to learn that as soon as I started comparing myself or my work to turn those things off (especially other crocheters), so I would watch a sermon or tv shows instead. If you’re giving up because it’s not fun then I get it but if you’re giving up because you haven’t made money….keep going!

It’s was a mixture of all that. I kept comparing myself which made it not fun anymore. But now that I took away the unrealistic and unnecessary expectations I feel better about it and will do whatever it is that I enjoy because I enjoy it. Thank you so much for your kindness. Mad at you for making me ugly cry 😭❤️❤️

Have you thought about trying farmers markets or pop ups. Those may be beneficial during the cooler months. So don’t stop just yet we’re coming into the holiday season also which is when people buy more for self or gifts. Your target customer will find you when you’re least expected. Keep promoting! Create post about crochet projects, interesting facts, do a poll on what crochet items people are interested in.

I make wickless candles and I was terrified to start but I got an overwhelming response in the beginning which has since calmed down but I do a farmers market/pop up once a month which is a win because you are exposing yourself to people who aren’t on line or immediate family/friends.

Are we the same person??? I started a sewing business earlier this year and went through the same thing! I took it way too fast and thought I was gonna blow up over night “cause all the people on KZitem did” - honestly I just want to work on my little projects and not be a business 😊 Good luck to you and whatever you decide to do!!! fellow crocheter / business owner here!! it’s super tough in this industry but don’t give up! especially if you’re just starting it’s not going to be sale on sale on sale, but it is worth it to keep it going! try focusing on one social media platform at a time and really hone in on that! continue to make videos like this, be open with your audience and even if you don’t do customs keep on crocheting!! over time the right audience will come to you

Keep practicing keep making build your inventory and then find some free areas you can do a pop up next to. If no free ones available look into reasonable pop up or farmers market prices

I'm the same except, if the shop is free (Etsy has a free version) to keep open, then do so. Just look out for that cha-ching that could happen every now and again...or often! I'm an extreme hobbyist and part of the hobbying madness is manning online shops. I like tinkling with building websites and such, jewelry making, crocheting, candles, wax melts, car freshies, concrete shenanigans, skincare products - an all-around hustler☺. It's a win win that comes with very little pressure to be like anyone else and it keeps my hands and mind busy.

maybe you can sell crochet patterns instead? i don't really know the process behind that but it could be a fun way to make some passive income while you figure out where you wanna go from here ! keep doing your best~

I just came across your video for the first time. I love your vest and it looks like you make some cute things. I'm not sure how long your shop. has been open, but it took around 6 months to get one sale. It's still a little slow at times but it has definitely picked up and I know that I get out what I put in. If you love doing it, keep at it. If you don't care how it does but want to do it as a hobby, then just keep with the hobby and crochet and list as you feel like it.

I'm not asking this to be rude, I just see a lot of myself in you. Is it possible that you have undiagnosed ADHD? I just got diagnosed 3 years ago. The having multiple hobbies and wanting to make a business out of them right away, relatable. Either way, you rock. Maybe consider taking a business management course. You've got this!

Hey, I don’t think you should give up just yet. You can create your own crochet designs, write out the patterns and sell them. I had my crochet business since 2020 and it failed me and I keep going and upgraded my business to making rugs and selling waterproof stickers along with my crochet items and crochet patterns So far it’s been good. Also a lot a lot of marketing. Cannot stress that enough lol. Remember your your own walking billboard 😊 no lie Word of mouth is everything and handing out your instagram and business cards if you have some. Your crochet pieces are beautiful!!! Someone will buy, keep your faith and keep believing Best of luck ✨ Keep going love 💗

Hey Genesis 🥰 thank you working so hard for what you do! Working a 9 to 5 starting at Etsy businesses, and KZitem. I wanted to buy and planned making an order once it was cooler out (October ish) Etsy is failing at promoting artists (my friend is struggling as well) I wanted to share my watercolor there I haven’t show much on my KZitem channel, because we are own worst enemy. Keep going we all learn and find our groves 🥰 thanks for being so real 💛

Don't give up! Have you considered making crocheted toys? I watch a lot of startup vlogs and crochet seems like a good business to be in! I wish I could make the cute bunnies, octopus, bumble bees etc. Make cutesy stuff ... you will be surprised how many people buy crocheted toys! Lots of people do markets with crochet stuff ... RESTART ... you got this! O'm a new subbie!
