Hope this video is helpful! Something I forgot to touch on is the reason why I intentionally shoot underexposed. It just allows me to brighten up the image and still leave it a little darker, instead of bringing down the exposure when editing. There's way more data in a photo hidden in the shadows, compared to it being over exposed, you lose data that way. Let me know if you'd like to see an editing tutorial as well, or if there's anything else you'd like to know about the camera. In the meantime, thanks so much for sticking around and the support so far 😌🙏 I'll see you in the next video

Nice work. This video, it’s story, or your story,. Very nicely done in a way that seems cinematic, yet also raw, uncut like a documentary. I know I could just Google it,. Here it goes,. Can the T7i do hdr photos? I had a Sony a3000 and it had hdr, so,. Hoping so, might be stupid question

Great video! You are 💯 percent right about this camera. Not only a great beginners camera but also a great in general. My wife started her photography career with the T7i, as I started my videography with the 80d. Till this day, we still use our begginer cameras, for what the cost, Canon hit a homerun with these. Thanks for sharing and your photography is amazing.

Also mention that for the clearest shots on the t8i which has a 1.6 crop censor, for hand held, never drop the shutter below the lens size multiplied by 1.5. ...for example when I shoot with my 50mm hand held, I set my shutter to at least 1/80 for the clearest shots. I go faster if I want to freeze the subject, slower to make some blur, but the faster you go, the more you need to raise the ISO or open the aperture. It's a fun hobby. Not as easy as the phone, but it's fun to have the control.

My everyday carry camera is a EOS M3 by Canon, which is very close to the camera you highlighted. I agree with everything you said. Cameras like these produce amazing results, if you know how to create them. And you have to learn how to create them to get your money’s worth out of the newer and more expensive cameras. So you are completely right. These are the perfect cameras to start with.

I’ve had the T7i for 3 years now, and I still love it. Not once have I felt like I’m not getting enough out of this camera, and I would gladly get another one. Hey Jared! This is the first video of yours I’ve seen and out of all the videos I have watched from other channels this was the most helpful and full of information with great examples and content! All your photos and video are amazing, I will say I’m an introvert too and have social anxiety but I want to overcome that one day so I can go out and take photos where I live and get some great shots. I currently use a canon rebel t100 which I got from Walmart for 300 bucks and it shoots very well but in the near future I’ve been looking to upgrade to the t7i because I used it in high school for my video production class and I am familiar with it. I have been wanting to find good lenses for my current camera but it’s hard to find cheaper ones that I can afford since I’m currently in college so I can’t spend a lot and your lens recommendations in the video really helped me get an understanding of different lenses! I also want to get better at photography and hopefully find the creativity I’ve been looking for. Your tips were also very helpful and informative! I saw in a few clips you had a plastic bag on your camera in the snow and rain and was wondering what it is and how did you use it? Keep up the great work

I've been an amateur photographer since high school (had a darkroom at home). When digital cameras first became available, and for several years after, I would buy the next jump in image quality and the "jumps" were really important. But now with my T7i, I see no reason to "jump" any more. This camera is good enough for my uses and I see no reason to spend money on anything more. I also keep a Sony RX100 III in my car for when I need a high-quality small camera.

I have the Canon T7i, glad to know someone especially a pro photographer like you that uses T7i. Does picture style matters? All I know is that when shooting RAW you can do post-processing, but is there any aspects that I should look upon that can't be handled in post-processing? Thank you and hope to see more video/tips with your T7i.
@winslow_j
Жыл бұрын
Hi there! It's such a great camera. I think the best tip I can give for getting the best quality out of your photos is to definitely shoot RAW, and also making sure to expose properly, being careful to not overexpose, since that's when you'll lose some quality when trying to fix it in post. But shooting in shutter priority mode or aperture priority mode will help a lot with this. I haven't played with the picture styles when shooting myself, but I will say that keeping your white balance on auto will help too. Everything else can be adjusted in post processing, especially since you'll be shooting RAW. A good tip with this is also using the screen when adjusting your settings, since it'll show you exactly how the photo will come out in terms of brightness. Hope this helps! And enjoy the camera and process 😄 that's the most important part

I’ve been shooting the T7i since like 2017, Love this camera. I have a similar setup to you lens wise, 50mm, 18-135, 10-18, and I was given an old tamron 70-300 that died on me while shooting wildlife. I’ve been wanting to buy the sigma 18-35 and the 150-600 because I love shooting wildlife, but I’m thorn between investing on more glass for the t7i or investing in a new camera and lenses for that a new camera. I know that buying a new camera will be more expensive, but getting lenses for the EF mount ties me to this camera.

Until 4 years after buying, I discovered one fatal error of Canon 800D. When using AV mode, its menu has NOT the Minimum shutter speed function So it often let the shutter speed ho too low, for ex, 1/ 12, when I using 50mm lense All photos go blurred. Canon enginers have severe mistake . In Canon R. Its menu has the function" minimum shutter speed" , so all photos taken in Av mode are ok I think Canon must get a new firmware for Canon 800d , as soon as possible.

Your content is awesome ; thanks for being informative without getting too technical and talking in circles. Quick question; my biggest problem with the t7 is the autofocus. It’s slow and inaccurate. I know you like the 18-135, but in my opinion it has exactly the same vibe as the other canon kit lenses... they're fun to use but the image quality is severely lacking and disappointing, I can't explain it, it's not the sharpness nor the slow max aperture, it's just a look... I used a kit lens for 2.5 years (2019-2021) before upgrading to a 50mm f/1.8 STM and a Tamron 70-300. Both of those lenses were really cheap, 110€ and 168€ respectively, in brand new condition with boxes, but used. Both of them deliver image quality at least 3 levels higher than that kit lens. I can see in your shots with it that the photos you took are great, but if you showed me that I would say it was taken back in 2006 with like a canon 10D and some old 28-90mm from the 90s. In my opinions it's that same degree of an all-round worse quality than what the canon 800D's (T7i's) sensor can do, it's a great camera, no problems with image quality even on the 50mm which is mega sharp at f/8... When I bought the new lenses, now 3 years go, I felt as though I had been using my camera wrong and as though I've wasted it's potential. I felt happy that I unlocked this new level of photography, but at the same time sad that I've not taken my other nice photos with the other gear. I've been to so many places with just the kit lens and now I hate all of those shots, there's like 10 good ones from the 21K photos I've shot with it, they just look like phone photos, unprofessional and plainly unusable. It's not even the sharpness, it's not even the high aperture, I like my newer photos shot at apertures as high as f/14 and f/16 that were shot on the other lenses, they have no bokeh of course, but they just look nice and pro... In my opinion, for new shooters, don't get a kit lens... better get a 50mm f/1.8 or maybe even better - a 24mm f/2.8, that's a great lens. Both of them are about the same price or cheaper than what canon charges for their kit lens bundles and if you really want the kit lens (idk why) just get it used from ebay or a local marketplace, they can go as low as like 70€, no use paying canon for it... Gotta admit; yeah, the kit lens is surprisingly sharp and has extremely silent and blazing fast auto focus, but I don't think it's worth getting it... I think I would have been much happier with the 24mm, I kinda feel like that's the best first lens on APS-C since the 50mm is all the way at 80mm equivalent so it's a bit too awkward to use as a beginner, an 80mm prime is a really challenging lens to use in my opinion, it's only good for portraits and such, not really a general purpose lens which might be what people might want as their first lens. Sorry for the long comment, I just didn't like your comment on the kit lens, reviews like these made me buy it 5 years ago and I regret it now, should have listened to the people laughing at kit lenses lol

Thank you! Awesome you can get some great deals on these second hand. In terms of budget lenses for zooming that will do well in low light, I think it depends on your budget since those will be a little more expensive. But I will say that the 500mm 1.8 from Canon is honestly the best budget lens that you can get, that will be great during the day and in low light as well, and super cheap being only $125. The good thing about it is that you get a good amount of distance with it since the T7i has a crop sensor like I mentioned, so I think the 50mm is the best budget lens for sure

Never recommend this camera! You shoot all those film cameras! Canon killed its FD for the eos, making it annoyingly hard to change the lens mounts. Unforgivable sin! 😜

😂 I do have to say I've been incredibly impressed with the 50mm on my AE-1...the fact that it's as old as it is, good as it is, and I only paid $25 for it at a store is insane. Definitely gonna be a healthy mixture of film and digital moving forward on the channel. I have 5 waiting on my shelf to try for a future series!

@@winslow_j FD lenses are dope! So many lenses are basically the same as the newer EF lenses, minus the electronics. But you need big viewfinders in your camera for focusing! My A1 viewfinder with split prism is so amazing, maybe the same as the AE-1? so I had such a hard time using the cheaper DSLR cameras with adapted lenses, until I got a Fuji X-T1, which was glorious, although cropped sensor, but still awesome. Get those videos going!!!
