Thank you so much for making this. I thought I was crazy when mine started doing this. It was a long 8 hour drive alternating between full hot and full cold. Frankly it's upsetting that it's such a simple fix that skipped past factory somehow.

My Solstice did the same thing. I disconnected the battery and touched the negative and positive battery leads and held for a moment. This reset the control modules and corrected the problem.

There is another procedure to try before having to resort to the resistor repair. A recalibration of the HVAC control head that can be performed quite easily. Actuator Recalibration When replacing an air temperature, mode, recirculation actuator or the HVAC control assembly, the following calibration process needs to be performed: Important: Do not adjust any controls on the HVAC control assembly during self-calibration. If interrupted, improper HVAC performance will result. 1) Turn ON the ignition with the engine OFF. 2) Turn the Temperature dial all the way to the right. 3) Turn the blower control dial all the way to the right. 4) Turn the mode position dial all the way to the left. 5) Simultaneously press and hold the A/C and Defrost buttons until the LED's start to flash. 6) Once the LED's stop flashing, calibration is complete.

Bryan Donisi ... he did that, I saw it in a previous video. But never the less great info. I tried it in my 2008 Pontiac Solstice GXP and I did it. It tested all vents.

How did you arrive at the conclusion that a resistor to this specific wire would correct the issue? Was this on a forum?
@Amorget

It's a GM TSB

How did you determine this is what it needed? This is what I hate about modern cars. All these unneeded fancy accessories while nice when they work are just a nightmare to troubleshoot and fix.
@WatchJRGo
5 жыл бұрын
It's an old TSB from GM, I assume this is feedback loop and 60-68 ohms is dead in the middle of the resistance band it's looking for. 🍻

Hey JR; I enjoy that video.. Question- how did you diagnose the problem, then figure a Ohm resistor would fix things? It's not a common repair. and good luck finding a Radio-Shack for parts.

I have a 2007 Saturn Sky Redline with 97,000 miles. Cockpit filled with smoke coming from vent and I was told the heater core had a leak and needed replacement. How should I proceed?
@pplagensusmc

I know it's been awhile since you corrected this issue with your heater and you probably don't have the car anymore but can you tell me what you used as far as the resistor concerned. There are some many to chose from and my electronics background is almost zip. I have a 2007 Sky also and it just now started to display the same as you described, far left cold, turn I notch burning hot. It lasted a long time before it went haywire. Any guidance would be appreciated.
