As a white person, it absolutely does get talked about. You need hygiene for yourself but also out of respect for others around you. I bathe every day (usually 2x in the summer) with a washcloth. I bathed every night as a kid. And there are many of us whites who were raised the same way lol. This lady is wild saying kids have autonomy over their bodies when it comes to health & hygiene. Kids would literally do the most unsafe things if we let them do whatever they wanted. Have she met a toddler? I’m convinced a lot of people get on podcasts and say shit just for it to go viral. Kev, remember how you said podcasting equipment shouldn’t be sold to everybody? 😂 The crunchy, unbathed Caucasians embarrass the rest of us white folks, so the podcasting mics being $$$ should go for the the whole world imo.

I wonder if this is a new aged thing because growing up I was around a pretty mixed group of kids and I never knew a difference between hygiene of the white kids and black kids. @jfm14
23 күн бұрын
That has more to do with the fact that many Europeans lived in relatively close quarters with their animals and picked up zoonotic diseases from them. Also, some of the diseases that wiped out large swathes of the Native population were already in the Americas before colonizers arrived. It was the destructive impact colonizers had on Native communities that made them more deadly. If Native peoples had been able to maintain their ways of life as before colonization, they would have been physically strong enough to fight both the old and new diseases and nowhere near as many would have died. It's colonizers' fault either way, but I think it's an important distinction.

Delayed bathing for a newborn makes sense, even though they will at least wipe down a newborn. I’d even say toddlers don’t need a bath every night because their bacteria doesn’t smell yet. But once the kids are up in age they will definitely start smelling and we handle that accordingly lol. At my ripe age I have to take 1-2 showers a day for my own comfort because I like smelling fresh. Yeah, newborn skin is different. They spent their entire existence inside the womb with a protective layer on their skin. Once they get here, they don't have that anymore, so giving their skin time to acclimate to the new environment before subjecting it to tap water, washcloths, and soap, is part of how you car for a newborn. What _she_ described, though, is just bad hygiene, and I guarantee she thinks it's okay, because she's not bathing either--or does, because she is being forced to, but doesn't actually want to do it.

Her 16 yo son would doodoo on himself and literally pee in his closet… their school would always send him home because he smelt so bad. She also mentioned that they didnt like to take showers because they would itch in the water. Im like girl, those are the germs trying to escape from the soap 😂. It makes you, and the rest of the commentators a bit weird if you believe that "POC"(stupid term, wtf does this even mean? "White" people don't have colored skin?) are the only ones who are bathing regularly or something. Also ironic since... Most of the "POC" I went to school with, would "bath" in the bathroom or take "AXE" showers. Hood kids didn't have the money to afford soap many times, let alone hot water. I had a kid join our little private school when we were in 4th grade(10ish years old), and I was told his family was very poor and couldn't afford hot water, so they didn't shower.

@@walteradams494 I understand the point you're trying to make, but those aren't the diseases to use. Typhoid is a food- and water-borne bacteria--you don't get it from _not_ bathing; and the plague was transmitted by fleas on infected rats, so also not a bathing issue. You can bathe every day, and still get bitten by an infected flea; and if your water source is contaminated, then bathing actually increases your chance of contracting that illness. Valid point, but wrong diseases.
