My mother is German an my father is American. We were stationed in Germany from 72 to 96. I remember how we put candles on the tree an lit them on Christmas Eve and sang carols. They were only lit for those 15 minutes. The rest of the time we used plug in lights. St Nicholas came on the 6th of December an the Christ Child came on Christmas Eve. I still follow those traditions today. My grandkids love putting their boots out for St Nicholas.

We open presents at midnight. My mom always makes this 7-up and sherbet drink in a pinch bowl and we always have a *goodie* table. Cookies, cakes, boxes of SEEs candy, chips/dip. We also do a bag gift exchange. Christmas eve is also a fun dinner night- enchiladas and tamales. Or Italian night with lasagna, bread, etc. Then Christmas day is traditional dinner . Thanks for sharing your fun traditions 😊👏🏻💕

I’m remembering my aunts aluminum tree growing up in Chicago. Was beautiful. I also remember walking around her street and 90% of the homes were decorated. She always would yell at me to stay away from the rotating light under the tree. This was 1957 give or take. Love your videos. You’re real.

I am a single mom, and a all about traditions. So, I started this with my daughter...on Christmas eve we make "Christmas Morning Rolls", they are ooey gooey pecan cinnamon rolls (easy to make) . They go in the oven frozen and in the morning we bake them and have them with hot chocolate or eggnog for "breakfast" while opening our gifts. Oh, and they are 100% calorie free! I mean it is Christmas isn't it?

No Christmas pajamas. No one present on Christmas Eve. Partially because we lived in Germany when we were young and they celebrate a tradition on December 6th (leaving boots out so that St Nicolas can fill them) and they celebrate Christmas on Christmas Eve (and partially so that the wrapped gift mess could be cleaned up before Santa came--and Santa didn't wrap gifts), we picked up that tradition...and now that we all have families of our own, we still celebrate our Christmas on Christmas Eve, and those with spouses are free to spend Christmas day with their spouse's family without a conflict. Now, we have a White Elephant gift exchange for the adults, and some fun games with gift cards for prizes for the winners.

We didn't get to open presents until Christmas morning, until the year my parents got a "movie camera", which was like our nowadays video cameras. The film was on reels that you hooked up to a projector, then watched on a screen. The first Christmas movie showed some of us kids coming into the front room in torn, somewhat worn pajamas. Every year after that we got to open a present on Christmas Eve, new pajamas.

I always enjoy the content on your channel, but this was so special. Thank you for sharing your memories and traditions of Christmas. I especially loved the photo of your family at the Santa sleigh. Your channel is my favorite. You are living my dream. When I was growing up in the 70s I never fit in and my family and friends were weirded out when I chose a 1940s style pencil skirt and button down shirt for my first day of 7th grade. My Mom’s most spoken phrase to me has been “this is not the Donna Reed show!” Mom was a teen mom who was so modern and hip which must have horrified her to give birth to a little old lady from the past. I started collecting things for my “hope chest” at yard sales in elementary school. I love that you are living in a way that makes you happy and sharing some happiness with us.

I wonder if opening one gift on Christmas Eve is a Midwest tradition. Both my ex-wife who is from the Chicago area & my girlfriend from Ohio both said they did that growing up. Growing up in Arizona my family never did that nor do I remember any of my childhood friends saying they did that. But one thing we did do was go out one night on the week before Christmas & my dad would drive us around town looking at Christmas lights. Those were wonderful times. I hope families do the same thing today. Really "wowed" at that old cookie press. My mom had the exact same kind when I was growing up in the late 60s & early 70s. I always bothered my mom to let me "help" her because I loved using that cookie press. Some years back I found one in an antique store & bought it just to have. My mom's original press having been lost over the years a long time ago. Wonderful memories. I'm writing this in early November so I'll take this opportunity to wish everyone reading this a Happy Thanksgiving & a Merry Christmas. Love your channel Laci!

Hi Laci! Absolutely loved hearing about your Christmas traditions! The ugly ornament is such a great and fun idea! Some recent traditions we have is playing a Christmas trivia game and for each correct answer you get a prize (a dollar store item). Also, my husband and I save one present to give each other Christmas night after the family gathering, when we are by ourselves 💕 Merry Christmas 🎄!

I love that idea of all the little cousins singing at the top of their lungs to get Santa to come! So cute! I love it! :D We did not have the tradition of pajama presents for Christmas Eve, but we did go and look at Christmas lights. And my mom had that same cookie press! (hers was electric) And made those same sugar cookies! Holiday Fav! I love the neighborhood treats exchange! So sweet! I love the "Ugliest Christmas Ornament" Contest! Super creative! I might try that myself! PLEASE Show pics of the Ugly Christmas Ornament Tree!! I wanna see it!

My family did that as well pcikingnone gift. When I was younger they said pick any gift but would direct us to something not so big so the bigger or so to speak better gift was saved for Christmas Day. Then as we got older our orients would say ok that’s a pretty decent gift you can’t open it as your one for Christmas even but remember when every jone else is Peking there so to speak bigger gift or gifts tomorrow don’t get upset so some years I would chose something bigger the night before and some years I could relax and just take something small. As we go older as well we started just having a fire. Going to church Christmas Eve driving around looking at lights and ironing out stockings. Then all the gifts were for Christmas Day. Thanks for sharing your Christmas store. It’s always so nice to watch your channel.

I’m Mexican-America so it’s a tradition to open all the gifts exactly at midnight. All the younger kids huddle up and we wait till midnight and we would open up our gifts. We go from youngest to oldest. Another tradition is we celebrate Christmas on Christmas Eve not on Christmas Day, so on Christmas Eve we break piñatas, get candy bags, sing songs, play games, dance, and we spend Christmas with friends and Neighbors that we grew up with cuz we don’t have much family in LA because everyone is in SF, AZ, or Mexico.

I loved hearing your traditions. We get a Christmas Eve family present, that includes pajamas, hot cocoa Christmas M&Ms, and popcorn. We wear our pajamas and drive around looking at lights and decor while sipping cocoa, then return home for a Christmas movie and popcorn..we also have a caramel popcorn like poppycock or crunch n munch. I let my kids pick an ornament each year and write their intials and the year, and when they are grown they get them and the ones they made in school growing up. My kids do a sibling secret santa and shop and wrap a present for a sibling. We drink eggnog, snack on Chex Mix or something similar and listen to Christmas music while decorating the tree. Hoping to find my very own aluminum tree for next year! I'd love to see your Christmas cookies all plated up! 🎄🦌⛄🎅

Thank you so much for this. I also have a ceramic tree ! One of my favorite Christmas traditions is filling Christmas cookie jars and delivering them to friends , family and the neighbors. One year I wore the most hideous flannel leopard pajamas with magenta pom pom fringe to deliver the cookies. The kids in the neighborhood loved it. I begin baking right after Thanksgiving but my hubby likes to help me bake and the candy making days. I buy the slightly smaller Dollar store cookie jars because they are cheaper and give the instructions that if the jar is returned they get a bonus cookie treat bag so I don't have to buy more jars. I would love to see the rest of your home, especially your trees and wreaths. Do you collect vintage linens as well? I can just hear your 40s and 50s records being played
