The Philippines can be an affordable place to live, particularly for those with budgeting experience. With a budget of $1,500 USD per month, you may be able to cover basic expenses and some leisure activities, like daily drinking. Tipping and financial gifts are discretionary and depend on your personal circumstances and cultural norms. I rarely see Filipino people tipping 🤔

You should have two weeks canned food and drinking water supply anywhere you live in PH. Plus cash money for one months. If any calamity happens: typhoon, volcano, earthquakes or just a long black out - most services will be out. If there is no electric all banks, atms, creditcard machines - nothing works. Drinking water stations - they are also run on electric, even if they have generator they will run out of fuel after a day or two - and there will be no drinking water. And when calamity hits - water becomes in shortage nobody will share the water as it the "survival law" and government will take weeks to start bringing water and food and there willl be huge lines. So be always prepared, especially cash. PS: what I say that food you have in the apartment - there is a reason and you should add to the stash. And ask them bring 3-4 blue jugs of drinking water lock it up in the pantry.

You have a nice spot. Great summary and I agree about electricty it has been hot so its ok to bump up that cost. I use fans always and AC on and off. Is your 7,500P for the bike a rental payment or bike payment? My wife financed one bike when I was in Manila 63,000P for a Suzuki Smash (too small for me) and over 2 years payments it was 113,000P (I tried to buy it out to avoid interest BUT there was no buyout option). We then got a Honda Click and paid cash for 72,000P to avoid the very high interest payments here.

If you got yourself a good filipina to cook you home meals your expenses would probably even come down lower. Instead of spending 15 USD for 3 meals a day you will probably pay about 15 USD a day for 2 people for 3 meals a day and eat better meals. She would save you money in other ways and clean your place. Some of those ladies who are around 25+ are very sexy and good at keeping house.
