I'm glad to live in the Netherlands where I can conveniently, safely, and quickly ride my bike to the university. I took this photo one afternoon in May 2024. What I especially like is that I didn't have to stop even once during this ride. Even though the route is about 8 km long, there isn't a single traffic light where I have to stop. Most of the time, I ride on a comfortable bike path where no cars are allowed, and I can relax, enjoy the nature, or listen to a podcast. In the areas where cars do share the road, I always notice how considerate they are. Since there aren't many cars, it's not as stressful as in other cities I've lived in before. What I still don't understand is why motorcycles are allowed on the bike path. Sometimes they ride very fast, and that's unpleasant. But otherwise, you can really experience in Groningen how pleasant it feels when traffic planners see the bicycle as a central mode of transportation and aim to make the bike ride especially enjoyable. Well done, I enjoy riding my bike here. For those interested: I ride an e-bike and my average speed in the video is 23 km/h.
