Thanks for sharing, Mike. I'm impressed that you were able to shed it a in a few days. It's been years for me, but that's okay. It's my journey and Ironically, it's one that's very similar to Pilgrim's Progress, but rather in the opposite direction. I'm pleased to hear that your deconstruction/deconversion came with difficulty, and that it came through an actual study of the Bible. Mine did as well. There seems to be a growing number leaving Christianity as a result of actually studying and not just reading. I appreciate ya. Take care.

Hmmm....It won't be a "fairy tale' when you stand before a holy righteous God. Looking into the eyes of Jesus and Jesus looking into your eyes, could you really say that to Him? Just some food for thought.

@@christophergibson7155 Prove to me that if I dropped dead right now that I would be standing in front of some God or some guy named Jesus. Prove it right now……………… You can’t, can you….This is an example of the arrogance of religious people. Somehow acting like your faith proves something. If you look up the word truth in the dictionary, the definition isnt going to be “Whatever you have faith in”….Just like me, you’ve never been dead. Which means, just like me, you have no idea what happens to people when they die. If Believing in Jesus helps you sleep at night, have at it. Stop with the arrogance. You don’t know what happens to people when they die anymore than I do..You’re just a human being. And like most human beings, you did the typical thing and joined the religion you grew up around (Christianity)….If you were born in some other time period, You would have worshiped a completely different god than the one you worship now. You’re a typical person who conformed to the religion of your society. You’re a sheep, nothing more. Too scared to think for yourself.

@@AtlasBookkeeping What you consider "arrogance" is in reality, "confidence". There is a difference. I am no better than you in any way. My confidence is in "knowing" my eternal destiny. Not by anything that was accomplished by myself. The only proof you need to what I am saying, is the "new birth". Jesus Christ said "unless you are born again you can not see the kingdom of God." There are so many scriptures in the Word of God that confirm who we will stand before when our life is over. "As it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment". (Hebrews 9:27) The reason you have no hope or understanding of the afterlife is because you are still dead in your sins and trespasses, as the scripture states. But when you are "made alive" in your spirit by only the Spirit of God your eyes will be opened and you will spiritually see. It is like the being at the theatre. I was a community theatre actor for years. When the audience is waiting for the play to begin, there is this long heavy curtain drawn across the stage. When the performance begins this curtain is drawn back, and then all the audience can then begin to see what this play is all about. And so it is with the things of God and the kingdom of God. When you are born again "that curtain" of darkness and unbelief is drawn back so YOU CAN SEE the reality of it for yourself !

I had someone ask me, "Who are you to pass judgment on God?" I said, you pass judgment on God all the time, but it's always favorable judgment. You show all of the good things that you think God did, and you declare God guilty of being super awesome, but then when you are shown bad things that God did, all of a sudden, we can't judge him.

I find deconversion stories uniquely interesting, like peering into a totally different world since I was never a believer. My mother dutifully took my sister and me to church but she never discussed what went on there. That didn't seem odd at the time. Meanwhile it all seemed like complete nonsense to me, a very poorly written narrative that wasn't even as coherent as the sci-fi and horror B movies I loved. It was only in my late teens I discovered she'd never been a believer but to her children to church to content her extremely religious mother. So I grew up free to make my own evaluation of religion. Now I feel uniquely lucky I didn't have to go through the struggles you did.

I’m a christian and I don’t feel like I’m better than other people..... but because of my faith in what Jesus did, I get “stamped” righteous by the Grace of God..... that’s the overall theme of the bible > Grace!

I have been thru 16 denominations and I have found that most people just believe in the basics.... they believe in Jesus.... most are not up on the specifics about their denominations.....and the bible just gives us God’s story and tells us that Jesus is the one to focus on (most churches have somebody in the kitchen who can put out great food when needed). A very wise man in the bible wrote (Just) Trust in the Lord with ALL ....YOUR....... heart! Dont LEAN on your own understanding(s) Proverbs 3:5.....God is much more than all the words in the Bible...... so chillax just trust!

@@jmdsservantofgod8405 I will never understand the cognitive dissonance (hypocrisy) that goes on in the brain of a christian....you claim your god is loving and merciful, and yet this loving merciful god had no problem creating a terrible place (hell) where he sends people because they honestly didn't believe or weren't completely sure whether he existed or not....nothing loving or merciful about that....LET GO OF THE LIE.... embrace reality....there's nothing like it...

For me it was actually my coming to Christ that opened my eyes to see the world through a completely new lens. The human condition finally made sense and the way to experience true peace and life finally became mine. It was the most liberating decision of my life and I have never felt so free as I do today. Growing in righteousness and resting in him has been the joy of my past 15 years. The Atheist worldview never really made sense to me but once I began to study and saw the flaws I could see why. Since then I've seen more and more atheists profess to believe in science yet their beliefs are not supported by that science. For example evidence of life coming from non life, nothing creating something, and consciousness arising from chemical matter. Hiding behind the guise of science, the sheer hypocrisy and dishonesty (or maybe plain deception) left me feeling totally unconvinced. I realised that this was a worldview based on pseudo science. The inconsistencies make it impossible for me to consider such a position. However I'm glad that I don't have to worry about that and that my life is one of joy walking in truth.

So you are saying that God should do everything for you, even though you do not believe in Him. Fully thing is He does. Gods sovereign will is self dependant and supersedes all will and actions. If God did everything nice for everyone all the time, it would actually be a bad thing to do. God has to be just and that wouldnt be just. When good times roll people laugh at God and say i am successful i do not need God. Evil happens to draw us closer to good and also, draw us into wanting to be different. Naturally.

The gospels are in complete harmony. When several people witness "a happening" each person has specific observations that they make, and record. For instance, "The Resurrection". If you study with the aid of the Holy Spirit, (the only way) it makes perfect sense. Mary Magdalene was first to arrive at the tomb, the other women (including two other Mary's) arrived to anoint the body of Jesus later. Then Mary Magdalene told the Apostles who were hidden in a room. At first they didn't believe Jesus was no longer in the tomb. Then Peter and John ran to the tomb to see. John outran Peter and arrived first. This is just one simple example of the understanding and wisdom one can receive when you read the Word of God by the Holy Spirit. You must repent, (have a change of mind and heart toward sin and self) and trust Jesus alone for your salvation Know this, your "deconversion" followed this order: DOUBT, DISBELIEF, DISOBEDIENCE. Remember, what the serpent(Satan) said to Eve in the Garden of Eden? "HAS GOD REALLY SAID?" And he has whispering this in the ears of people since the dawn of man. Don't believe THE LIE. Turn back to Jesus Christ and believer THE TRUTH. He if Faithful !

Sounds like your Calvinist upbringing left you with a lot of baggage that you needed to shed. Now that you finally realise that you are no different from anyone else you can begin to find the truth for yourself. Do not close your mind to the possibility of your path leading somewhere unexpected. I say this as someone who rejected Christianity for many years before coming to the point where I discovered it afresh and fully embraced it. That was 40 years ago, and I have never looked back. Take your time, never stop questioning, and go wherever your journey leads you.

not getting much action on this video. lots of videos with stories like yours. young people born into an intense religious family then they grow up and question their lives & beliefs. the bible can be difficult (especially Revelation). but christianity offers a relationship with God in 4 ways: tradition (what your family tries to pass on to you), scripture (God’s story written down as best as possible by humans), reason (a gift from God, he wants you to use) and experience (your journey, walk with the Lord guided by the Holy Spirit)......pray! talk to God and listen.....this world will never make sense and you will have troubles > Jesus says you will.....Grace & Peace to You from the Lord (this world does not offer you that)

If you were born a Hindu that would be your tradition. You would be reading the Vedas and Bhagavad Gita. You would go to school with others like you. So are you saying somehow you were born into a place that somehow had God and others didn't?
