I wish I found this video before I made my own tatacon for my high school capstone project. My controller works well enough for lower difficulties, but I can’t play any songs with high note density because the vibrations causes the drum to read the wrong inputs. Your video contains very useful information that I wish I knew. Nice job!

How did you connect multiple red cables into the 5v socket? Best regards
@rhythmgamesoda
2 жыл бұрын
Hey! You can use a breadboard or something else before conecting to the 5v socket. For instance you can conect all red cables into just one single cable and then connect it to the 5v socket, this way every sensor will have 5v, this is called Parallel connection in electronics, if you search for this here on youtube or google you will understand.

The rubber in the screws reduce vibrations and in turn it eliminates false inputs, right? Would it help further to use enclosed piezo sensors rather than exposed ones? Also, only one arduino nano is enough for all sensors? I saw a Japanese guy who made a rather uninformative "tutorial" on how to make one and he apparently used one arduino for each piezo. I am looking forward to make one of my own, but I want it specifically for use on PS4 and PC, how could I achieve this?
@rhythmgamesoda
2 жыл бұрын
Hey, so I heard that it doesn't change much using piezos with or without case, I don't have enclosed ones so I never got to test it. Yes, one arduino is enough and I don't know what benefits you would get from using 4 arduinos, maybe something related to time to process the signal but I don't know, just guessing. For PC you can use Luicat's code from github but for ps4 I have no idea, I heard that ps4 controllers need a ps4 pcb or something like that in order to work, I've never looked into this because I'll use mine only in PC.

@@rhythmgamesoda Thanks a bunch for taking the time to respond in an old video, really means a lot. In the meantime between my comment and today I researched a bit and found that the PCB inside the retail drums (be it Hori or chinese ones) can be used. However, how would I go about changing the sensors they include to piezos (so they're more sensitive) and apparently they connected it to an arduino to adjust sensitivity even further. I, however, couldn't find any schematics that weren't in Japanese to do so, do you have any idea on how to do this?

@rhythmgamesoda
2 жыл бұрын
hey, yes, this is a problem, first of all make sure everything is very tightly hold in position: piezos, wires and even the arduino, they cannot vibrate. After you make sure anything won't move when you hit it, you should work on the code's sensitivity, if you are using Luicat's code, in his github he explains how to set the values, then you have to find you ideal values, every piezo is different so you have to find the values yourself. It took me a while to test and get to a point where I could play with 99,99% of correct hits.
