The CM that John caught with the Rosen trap was Eric’s opponent in the final game. Very poetic.

That was awesome Eric ! Very well played #2. I cant normally watch someone play a whole arena. But I was captivated start to finish, , maybe yes it is my day off helps. I can empathize and agree with you many times lol. my chess always risky lol. I had many similar emotions and excitement in my own arena tournament on the other site getting a #2 in 3/2 blitz 2 hours. Getting a good start helps but I also can falter or get tired towards the end especially when freshies late join. the random mouse, those odd games that just slip through the fingers. The amazing draws and saves and comebacks. The epic sacs, smooth crushes, the KOs the time scramble battles, I love it too GGs ! Also. The fishing concept of (reeling them back in) after a huge time advantage is a nice feeling ! along with a successful premove checkmate just in the nick of time, the cherry on top. Something for the whole family. Thanks international master Eric !! btw cool Knight t-shirt I want one !

Watching these games I get the feeling opponents are ready for "oh no my queen" or "oh no my bishop" moments from Eric . 😁 . The Morozevich game was probably the wildest . Sad that Eric lost the last game due to Botez gambit 😐 . John Bartholomew unleashing the Rosen trap was perfect .

You're the most instructive chess KZitemr I follow. In the first minute you formed a connection in my head that I've not formed in the years I've been a hobbyist player. That note about the possible switch to positional gameplay was brilliant. It made me think "Why?" and so I had the cue to investigate mentally. I'm sure I gained some figurative ELO there, even though I only play anonymously. Thanks senpai!

Hey Eric, love your videos. I was wondering if you'd do a video or even send me a message, entertaining the idea of negated check. Example, a piece pinning say a rook to your king, cannot impose check if the rook were moved, because it itself is pinned to its king, so could not move to capture the king if you were to move the rook. It would not be considered check on your king until your opponent unpins that piece. This would introduce another option to escape check: pin the piece imposing check to your king. I encourage you to think on the implications of this, I really do think it would make a more fun and complicated game, and would not insert any bias or unfairness. Keep up the good work, would love to see a professional reply to this. This might seem unfair because one player ignores a pin and the other doesn't, so a rule must be imposed- *only the player who pins a pinning piece may ignore check*. The possibility for both players to do this exists, so it is unbiased.

WOOOO GO RYDER GAMBIT!!!! The best line from Bg4 is actually either a forced draw or better for black, I gave up on analyzing the forced variations somewhere in the 40's. For years I thought Bg4 was a losing blunder, but eventually newer versions of stockfish (I think 12 was the first to find it?) rehabilitated the line for black.
