They did look pretty moist when you took them out of the silica gel. That was the first thing I noticed bcuz you said it was to dry the moisture out of them but they looked like the day you cut them off of the plant.

I’ve been a jeweler since 1996 and i think you should learn some actual jewelry techniques like chasing/repoussé, enameling, e-coating, etc. Epoxy is great for inlay where it’s a thin coat cementing tight fitting stones in metal but it turns yellow and brittle over time. I’ve scraped off a lot of that in my life. This is NOT an archival technique. You could also try dyed leather.

Your orchid isn’t destroyed please don’t get rid of it Pruning the flowers can encourage bigger ones to come back next time either closer to the base or the very ends. Just water it once in a while and it will bloom again, maybe even once again this summer depending on your climate I love orchids and it makes me so sad when people toss them after the flowers have fallen. They don’t spend much time blooming but when they do it’s so pretty!

My great grandma has a lot of orchids, when they loose their flowers she will use a fake orchid and put it on the stem with wire. She glues the wire to the fake flower then wraps it around the stem. It's better than having bald sticks!

you could try a flower stabilization technique that fixes the color: Once cut, immerse the flower in a 20:80 solution of water: vegetable glycerol for 24 hours then leave to dry to perfection. Another stabilization technique is to immerse the flower in alcohol until it completely loses its color and then immerse it in a solution of food coloring and then let it dry.❤

1. Dry them for a couple weeks- if the silica gets too moist (usually turns blue) put the flower in a fresh patch and bake the saturated silica in the oven to dry 2. Spray the flower w/ UV protectant acrylic spray after drying and prior to resin to prevent color loss (the resin is like a magnifying glass in the sun amplifying the if bleaching the flower) 3. Make sure when you drill the hole for the hardware, swipe some more resin around the raw edge to make it air tight again. Otherwise it will still rot (albeit slower) even if fully dry

Even if you let them dry for a longer period of time, they will lose color due to exposure to the sun's UV rays. If you wear them outside, especially in the early afternoon, their pigmentation will fade. It won't happen after 3 days but after 1 month of continuous exposure it will. You should look for some spray or paint to apply to protect them from the rays. I apologize for any grammatical errors, English is not my first language (it's Italian).
