Countless great moments, but "I don't like this bird" and Tim wailing on Mark with the wrench stand out (I can't explain why Tim being left-handed makes it funnier, but it does). The experience of following the live Reddit thread during "Movie Links" was also pretty amazing -- we all took the journey from confusion to realization to mortification together. I think one thing about the special that deserves discussion is the fact that, for the first time ever, there is now a character (Joey) who does not gravitate towards Tim. Be it for money (Axe and Manuel), fame desperation (Joe), manipulation (Toni), or the fact that this is a series about reviewing movies (Gregg). Joey is the first outsider who sees Tim for what he is; a horrible person. The closest we've gotten to that was the trial, and those people needed to keep it professional.

There's an anecdote in the "wrap party" video where Eric Notarnicola explained how complicated it was to pull off that quick moment on live video where you see Tim grab Joey's phone and scroll through the photos. Which is only more impressive when you realize it's a split second gag that only exists to make Gregg's proposal slightly more cringey. It's the tiny details like this that elevate On Cinema to the endlessly rewatchable masterpiece that it is.

Honestly I assumed that the seemingly random person is someone we already know. An anglicized version of Joaquin could be Joseph/Joey, AKA our boy Joey P. They even mentioned something in the DA press release about running away to Mexico and coming back. My guess is still that the gist of the scam is lithium being funneled into some sort of illegal international trade, maybe even sales to countries like NK, Iran or Russia. Also depending on what kind of lithium it is, some versions are apparently used in nuclear weapons. So the Amato's may be involved in some really dark shit, lol.

I think Matt's shooter was totally unrelated to Tim and the Amato family's activities. I think it's a sign of Tim's hubris that he can't conceive of Matt having his own life and problems beyond what's related to Tim. I also don't think Tim had ANY idea what the Amatos did regarding his legal troubles: I expect Tim told G. about the potential issue, G. assured Tim not to worry about it, and once Tim saw the shooter he assumed G. was responsible somehow. Tim's reaction to the shooter footage suggests pretty strongly to me that he wasn't aware of any plans. I also think the shooter asking if Toni was home makes sense as a basic question at the door to ask to try to make yourself seem innocuous. I think Tim's turn against G. Amato had much less to do with any possible murder plot than it did Tim being denied the Dodge Charger. I could be wrong, but I imagine the next story arc will involve Tim making unfounded accusations against the Amatos about Matt's shooter, though he might possibly dig up something else criminal that the Amatos are involved in by accident-which will make Tim feel like he's "won" despite his initial allegation being totally off-base.

Easily the worst Oscar special so far. Some good moments here and there but meh, I don’t expect to be rewatching this one any time soon

Insert dude bro tech guy. Reminder Irl tim and gregg are left leaning satirists. Their whole show dunks on pointless movie reviewers, alternate medicine believers, maga supporters, insecure men, and murderers who somehow tricked the system. Tim genuinely hates his character and all of these people so Greg and he write them to be the most dumb and cringe people imaginable.
