Video games can increase anxiety. Gives you adrenaline etc. In my experience they give anxiety, when I stop playing for one day, the next day is worse, then the next day is the same as first day, then the 4th day is same as first and third, then I feel better on 5th day. You should try.

This has really helped to ease my mind in the midst of a panic attack. I'm 15 and I've always been a very anxious kid, never liking crowded places or adrenaline filled activities and such, but about a year ago I started suffering from intense strings of panic attacks. I had these attacks in the past but they typically subsided after a week or so, yet these ones were and still are nearly daily. I have recently been diagnosed with Generalised Anxiety Disorder and have been prescribed 10mg tablets of Citalopram. Just hearing the similar thoughts you had prior to taking the medication as well as the obvious anxieties of how they may affect you made me realize that I am not alone. To anyone out there suffering with anxiety and panic attacks, you're stronger than you know. I know it may feel like torture now but you can push past it. We've got this 💚

Magnesium glycinate (or magnesium malate) works wonders for panic attacks and anxiety, I used to have panic attacks all the time until I discovered magnesium in my early 20s. Cured them, stopped my panics cold. I take it every night, 100 to 200 mg, since its a great sleep aid too. Carry it with me anyway just in case I have another one again. It wont cure everything or replace your meds (probably), but try it out, you can get it on amazon- it might at least help. Also Vitamin D is really important, and a good multivitamin. The rda for magnesium is 400mg a day, found mostly in dark greens like spinach and seeds/nuts. You would have to eat a whole bag of spinach a day to get 400mg though, so virtually everyone is deficient. You're a brave man, thanks for making this video.

As a result of your strength in what may have seemed to be your weakest moment, I'm glad you finally went for help. That crucial step has lead you to a solution that continues to work for you. Because of your bravery, your anxiety level continues to be drastically reduced allowing you to live your fullest life. This enables you to pursue opportunities that you once thought were beyond the bounds of possibility or even unimaginable. Fortunately, I never experienced severe clinical anxiety other than the occasional normal emotional anxiety from stressors but as you mentioned you discovered rather quickly and easily that six people in your gym were experiencing similar anxiety issues. In the United States, one in four adults suffer from anxiety disorders. Unfortunately most people perceive it to be a sign of weakness resulting in many to suffer by internalizing their anxiety disorder while trying to carry on with life as normal for many years before seeking assistance just as you had done. Your bravery continues to let your light shine brilliantly giving you the confidence to speak from the heart which in no doubt is a direct reflection of your humanitarian motivation to empathetically assist others. Absolutely the best outcome anyone can hope for when blinded by the darkness of anxiety. Best wishes.

Thank you so much for sharing! I relate so much. I have struggled with anxiety for 15 years, I took Prozac in high school to get over the initial onset of anxiety. Over the years OCD has taken over. A few years ago, it got so bad that I spent a whole year trapped in my room with agoraphobia. I finally got out of there and haven't been back to that house since. I'd definitely recommend going back home often to avoid it becoming a phobia. I'm working hard to break my phobias and mind loops. Debating on medication but I'm terrified to take it.

I've had anxiety most of my life but I only just now got on medication (just fast asking stuff for panic attacks)and it helped me SOOOO MUCH it made me question why I hadn't done it earlier. I had received therapy prior to this but the Coronavirus took my anxiety to another level, which is why I sought help via the medical route. I'm doing better now and haven't had to take long lasting meds yet, but if I have to I'm going to do it! No messing around because mental health kills and makes your life a misery if you don't address it. Don't be scared to try something-you would with any other health problem, right? This is just another thing.

We have to go through the side effects for it to fully work... Im getting better slowly cause I been on for almost 2 weeks now... The doctor said give it at least 5 weeks and come back... if i need a higher dose, then i will take it... Sometimes the side effects are unbearable but im hanging in there... The setraline was so bad that the doctor said citalopram has less side effects compared to Setraline... I feel sleepy after 2 hours and I take a nap and afterwards I feel great... Im less sad and dont cry as much... 🙋

Wow, thanks for the inspirational video! I've just started on 20 mg and am one of the people who has had some pretty intense side effects - extreme nausea, diarrhea, sweating, trembling (and strangely also euphoria and loss of inhibitions, like I might feel if I took MDMA). This has lasted for NINE DAYS, but thankfully today I had none of the unpleasant side effects at all. They just disappeared overnight and didn't come back when I dosed this morning (I'm still getting the high for a few hours after dosing, but I guess that will level off in time as well). It will be more than worth it if I get even a fraction of the benefits you've seen. Thanks for sharing.

Really enjoyed watching this video. I learned a lot from your experience, and I've gone through a very similar experience. I'm actually young (16) to be going through stuff like this but just going to school or even the most simple things are the hardest for me. It's like a feeling of being scared but I get accommodated with functional abdominal pain as well (which is horrible). I'm currently on Citalopram (10MG) and I have been taking it for like over a month and haven't seen any effects, and I hope they increase the dosage to 20MG. The anxiety was just so random and it's hard to take control of it and it's been a struggle. I'm glad to see that you were able to overcome your fears of *I guess you could say flights?* but in a sense it was many different things too. So congratulations on that! I hope you and your girlfriend are doing well.

Great story. I retired from the fire department after 18.5 years due to a few reasons one of them being PTSD. I have been fighting the monsters with lots of weapons but I am looking into celexa. I am taking Prozac but it doesn't help. I have researched lots of medications and amino acids etc. I finally have a new psychiatric Doctor and I want to try celexa. I appreciate your honesty on the medication because everything I've researched is mixed reviews. I think this medication could be a great option due to the lack of side effects compared to other meds. I am a psychiatric RN also, I got my RN through a medic to RN bridge program years ago. I am going to start psych nurse practitioner in a few months and specialize in PTSD for fire police and military. Thanks again for the honest review

I suffered for years because I was misdiagnosed for asthma. I was getting shortness of breath and my doctor prescribes asthma medication. Every time I use my asthma pump I didn’t get any relief. I went to the emergency room several times and left there feeling the same. I was so frustrated and couldn’t understand what’s happening to me. I was vacationing in San Diego when I thought I was having an asthma attack. I took my asthma pump and made my symptoms worsened, i thought was a goner. Ambulance came and took my vital signs and said I was having a panic attack and by taking the asthma pump its causing me to hyperventilate. I was in complete shock when I heard this and didn’t believe it. They gave me 1mg Ativan in the emergency room and within 20 minutes I felt fine! I flew back home and made an appointment with a psychiatrist and was diagnosed with anxiety disorder. I started off on 10mg celexa and worked my way up to 20mg. I have to say that I haven’t felt this normal in a long time. I had retired from my job and decided to stop talking celexa because I thought the stress from my job was causing my anxiety. After three months my anxiety and panic attack returned and I’m now back on celexa. My main concern now is how safe is it to be on celexa long term.

We don’t know, and that’s the thing ! The drug is still being tested for long term use. I guess only time will tell. Look I can’t live with anxiety it’s just too much. Some days are worse than others, my thing is when I have the drug I feel so normal and happy. I’m still young and want to live my life with no regrets. Quality of life is just as important as longevity.

I have pretty severe depression anxiety and 10 years ago was put on effexor and it controller my anxiety really well but never really helped with depression so for 3 months I tappered off and started Wellbutrin and now my depression feels better but my anxiety is absolutely the worst it's ever been. So now I'm preparing for a doc visit and I'm researching other SSRI's and celexa is something I actually heard Roseanne Barr recommend on Howard stern and it's lead me to your video but I really need to know how it works for depression. Im excited to try this .... People say great things. Thanks for your video and I hope your still doing well

If you do please make sure you give it at least 3-4 weeks to kick in. Write down any side effects and weird feelings and check back in with your doctor after a few weeks. This is serious stuff that needs to be taken on time and monitored. Don't over dose or take more then you should and please keep a positive mind and be happy.

I used to take it and at first I thought it was cool because I wasn't sad. I wasn't happier either/ I was simply EMPTY. Personally I do think that my 20mg per day did definitely help me break the cycle of negative thinking in my mind though and for that I am always grateful. I am not going to say that they did not help me because they did, however after a while I felt that I was empty inside and unable to actually have true emotional feelings. I could function at work, I'm a chef, and I could definitely socialise easier because I did not have anxiety, but I realised that if I have to always have this drug in order to function in society then like all drugs it will eventually be bad for my mind, body and spirit. After stopping the prescription I read books on mind power and realised that all unhappiness comes from the past and the future. All sadness is born from thinking of past events or what you don't have and what you want in your future. Literally no unhappiness can be felt in the present moment. That's why it's called "the present"..it is a gift from God. Focus on right now. Focus on you. Focus on positive and confident beliefs in yourself and others around you, even if they all drive you up the wall. If something about your daily actions makes you unhappy then stop doing it. Your mind is like a computer. You can reprogram it by changing your belief systems. Choose carefully what you decide on believing. All beliefs are thoughts that are like seeds. You think the thought once and you drop the seed in the soil of your mind. Every time you think the same thought you are watering that seed and making it grow. The more you think the same thought the stronger the root becomes and the bigger the plant. Eventually you have a tree. Eventually that tree bears fruits. The fruits are the manifestation of your beliefs into the reality of your life. "You reap what you sow". If the thoughts are positive then the fruits will be edible and nourishing and bring good fortune and success and happiness. If the thoughts are negative then the fruits will be rotten and tainted and when eaten may even cause you to perish. Be careful what you think. Your thoughts become your words. Your words become your actions. Your actions become your character. Your character becomes your destiny. You can achieve happiness in the worst of times by believing in the goodness within you. Do not listen to those around you who doubt you and tease you and think negatively of you. There will always be people like that out there no matter how happy or successful you are, always. So I say this to you: Life is not about avoiding the storms, it is about learning to dance in the rain.

Hey man, I’m going through a similar situation here and just posted a video about it on my channel. I was prescribed 10mg of the citalopram by my doctor a couple of days ago. I’ve been taking it and decided to do some research today. A lot of people seem to complain of come down effects when they stop taking it. Do you have any updated experiences about that? I don’t want to continue with this if the come down worsens my symptoms. Thanks

@@SGRblink Citalopram has actually worked really well for me. My only side effects are a dry mouth in the mornings and a habit where my jaw tenses or a press my teeth together, but as soon as I become aware I stop. The first few weeks will be tough as you won't notice any difference. I started feeling better after about 5 weeks in. Once the meds started to work I have been able to see things in better perspective and realised just how bad I was so I am now able to start applying CBT techniques and improve myself even further. I'm still taking it and my current biggest fear is sliding back to how I was if I stop. But hopefully once I feel I've sorted my life out a bit more, I can see what happens if I wean myself away from them.

@@Youdannny thanks for the reply . I`m only on day 7 and have found my anxiety had got a bit worse but reading that can be expected . As you say 5 to 6 weeks seems to be the point when you get some relief. Seems so far away !. The jaw thing I total get . It`s good to hear a first hand account and helps me keep going at it . That's exactly what I wanted to hear really , that after the meds kick in that you can see a better perspective of things . Again cheers for the reply really appreciate it .

Jeff C... I started with anxiety in exactly the same way... It began with a strange feeling of unreality accompanied by a sense of doom and foreboding... Dr Claire Weekes book 'Self Help For Your Nerves' taught me that the initial panic attack began a 'Fear Of Fear Cycle' I'm about to start on Citalopram and I'm panicking at the thought of even that! Exercise, as you say helps enormously...

I'm 29 and its round two for me, took it for 2 years previously and felt great. Stopped taking it a year ago and then my dogs seizures triggered anxiety and panic attacks because it was something that I couldn't control and other health related phobias that I have. On week 3 now and starting to feel better. Seems insomnia comes into effect a little if you aren't taking a full 20mg. 10mg for a week like jeff said and then go to 20mg if thats what the doc prescribed. It does help and it seems a lot of the side effects like mild nausea go away over the first 2-4 weeks. IT GETS BETTER GUYS but your anxiety will show through while taking the pills until about the 6-8 week mark... from my experience.
