Someone told me, you can have everything but not everything at once. This resonated with me to where I can decide with this season of my life with a 19 month old, wife duties, friendships to maintain, and career, what are the few things I need to prioritize in this season. Little by little you can move forward with your goals but maybe not all at once.

I was about to wash my hair when this popped up and I sat back down! I've just accepted that you cannot do everything. Especially with scrolling on social media, and I just scroll through KZitem! It is a deadly time suck; reading is great but after watching content, there's no time, there are other things that need to be done. Just pick the things that are most important and keep it moving!

Jen, you are a true worry wart. Stop sweating the small steps and just live. Enjoy your family - wrinkles must come, hair will break but life goes on until it goes on no more. There are people in this world (and I'm sure you know some) who can't even afford a good bottle of shampoo. Just keeping it real.

This video came at the right time for me, i've been lazy with my routine, more specific with style. I started washing and going in 2020 watching your videos and since then it's the only style I've been doing and over time the routine was simplified because it got tiring, work and college take up a lot of my time. And I've been focusing lately on prioritizing the washing routine. Style? it took a back seat. If I have a mood, I do a wash and go if I don't wear my afro hair. For me the important thing is to keep the hair healthy without focusing on the PERFECT style.

If you have multiple things to do, the only way to survive is to learn to prioritize and delegate. If you have a support system, prioritize what you can do, and ask for help for the things you wont get a chance to do. For an example - you can still be a great mom and work on your career. Have the father step up and do more to help with kid(s) - women didnt make them on their own. After work, it's his turn since mom had them all day. Have grand parents, aunts, uncles to help. That way you have time for your self/ tocus on other priorities If you dont have a support system- hire people to step in and help (if youre financially stable) once in a while to give a break/focus on other priorities. Mental health should always be is top priority. Being tired all the time is not mentally healthy.

10-step skin care routine because of wrinkles, Jenn? I'm just gonna assume it's 'a figure of speech'. I'm turning 39 in less than a month, I cleanse, wear a mask once a week and moisturise, that's it. The thing I worry the most about is my spiritual growth, others I have little to no control over, by the grace of God, bills are taken care of monthly. I have a husband and two kids (11 & 6) most of the things I used to worry about seem to be distant when I look at my rear view mirror, I guess it comes with aging, needless to say, sometimes I just marvel at the confidence God stirs in me. You will be fine with time, Mommy, btw my 6 yo has 3 years 4C, mine is almost 2 years.

I’m sorry that you feel you are drowning. Motherhood is the hardest job but the most rewarding. Slow down, breathe, and know you can only do what you can do. It will get easier as your baby girl grows older. My baby is no longer a baby but a young adult now, soon to be 24. Whew, it’s been a journey. 🥰

Awww Jenn thanks so much for the video!!! I’m not a mother but as a woman that aspires to be a mother one day, I really love the authenticity of how life as a mother is (in relation to taking care of yourself). I’ve realized that as I’ve been getting older, my wash days are becoming my “peace of mind days” because it really does make me feel stress free but the fear it gives me before washing it, is what makes me prolong it. All this to say, life be life-ing, so in those small moments when you can just say “at least I did something today and I’m so thankful for that” than that’s better than not being able to anything at all.

I dont even do the conscious beauty anymore because it is too much. People create that pressure on them because they focus on what people think instead of what makes them comfortable and happy. I wear my hair frizzy in ugly twists and I couldn’t care less about what people think.
@JennJackson
5 ай бұрын
It goes deeper than appearance so I wouldn't say we always create the pressure on ourselves. For example, I worry about becoming the best version of myself for my child and family or living in my purpose etc, all of which has nothing to do with appearance. Worrying isn't necessarily a bad thing although how we deal with that worry can be. It's just our bodies letting us know what matters most to us. I recently learned that and it gave me a new perspective so I'd thought I'd share. .

@JennJackson It still takes a village. We have to create our villages. Develop friendships and supportive relationships with other women who are caring for their babies and children. Take turns babysitting while someone else runs errands or attends maintenance and doctors appointments. Set up play, park, and library dates to break up the monotony of the day. Ask for and hire help when needed, if you can afford it. Yes, it's hard to trust people, but we have to find somebody we can trust if we want help. If you don't trust anyone with your baby, then get help with laundry, cooking and cleaning and running errands. You can also get part-rime help... someone to sit with the baby for a few hours a day while you take care of your body/haircare and handle daily business tasks, like answering emails, joining meetings and making calls, and filming and editing. This way, you're getting things done while still being present to keep a watchful eye on your baby. I hope these suggestions help. Hang in there! Love & Hugs❤

Ok for all the moms. No I am not a mom but this is just how I feel I can give yall some tips to make your life’s easier. Lotioning after the shower. I KNOW. Annoying. Try in shower lotion. Doing ur hair after the shower and moisturizing? Try putting your leave in moisturizer on in the shower. Baby is crying while you’re doing chores? Try having them on u while u clean tied to your back or in a chair that vibrates them to sleep.

I'm not doing anything out: no bantu knots out, braid outs or twist outs. It's just two strands twists sometimes put into bantu knots. And i wash them once every forthnight or once a month. Refresh with a tea that has glycerine in it once to twice every week. I cannot come and kee myself and come and go and die.
