If one watches this "news production" at YT speed 0.75, a lot of things become MORE "carefully" evident: For starters, a lot of the "experts" (except the police) are smiling and grinning and seem "happy" as they talk about this........... particularly the female criminology expert from DeSales University, which is where Steven Kronberger attended criminology courses. At 4:45 the cop says matter-of-factly (almost casually) that Raeder "pulls a gun" on Mr. Otero. This may SHOCK most Americans, but in nearly ALL other Western Countries of the World, most people do NOT have the ability to "pull (hand) guns" on others, and these other countries have as MUCH 'freedom" as "American Citizens" do. If Raeder was alone (although there is doubt he was) it is EXTREMELY UNLIKELY he would have dominated, subjugated, and controlled Mr. Otero WITHOUT a (concealable) gun.................. As Mr Otero was a tough man AND a sport boxer AND defending his family AND in his own house. At 5:50 another of the experts says Raeder "leaves his DNA at the scene". I guess it is OK to talk about child murder on a prime-time TV network news program, but NOT that Raeder "jacked off" on the bound, hung, and murdered little girl, which is public knowledge from other public sources on this case. Strange they won't say this, because it reveals EVEN MORE SHOCKINGLY and DISTURBINGLY what people like Raeder have in their heads and are capable of with their hands..........

Statistically speaking there is a general fall in the number of serial killers in Global North countries, but they are still prevalent in Global South economies. This is due in part to a number of factors such as technology (video cameras/social media), the introduction of new laws such as making hitchhiking illegal and other things in the Global North. A crucial unanswered question here is what happened to Rader in the 4 years he was in the military? Did he witness, or participate in, traumatic events there and did this either create or worsen his psychopathy? In my view psychopathy doesn't just happen genetically from birth; there is always a reason for it. You just need to dig deeper in some cases than others to find some kind of abuse or trauma there. His military past and his childhood would be two places to start. Just because his childhood appeared normal, it doesn't mean it was. More covert abuse may have been going on behind the scenes. Sadistic psychopathy is almost always some kind of reformation of grief and trauma the psychopath themself has experienced earlier in life. They are trying to find the power that was denied to them earlier in life through some kind of trauma or humiliation. By killing and torturing others they feel all-powerful in the moment and temporarily cancel out their own feelings of powerlessness. To find out where Rader's psychopathy comes from, I would dig much deeper into his childhood and military past. We can't rely on what he himself says because psychopaths always lie and dupe others for the kick of it.

“Just an all-American boy, grew up playing cowboys and Indians” Always floored me how re-enacting one of humanity’s deadliest and most tragic genocides was a common American playground game. But somehow, trivializing genocide into a fun childhood game is never seen as a symptom of the violent sickness which plagues the white American male psyche, and now manifest itself in serial killers and school shooters (not to mention sociopathic, greedy politicians, cops and ceos). Also, im sure witchita back then wasn’t such a magical, friendly place for everyone (ahem, racism.) plus, it’s just lazy writing if every story about a serial killer starts with “he was such a nice boy! how did this happen?” that can’t be the narrative EVERY time.

Kerri is an incredible, smart, strong, caring woman- she’s not only breaking the cycle of abuse in her family but working w/ law enforcement to find her father’s other victims, bc she knows him better than anyone; but he also took her to crime scenes, incorporated murder mementos into their household, and wrote a journal abt his demented acts except he used codes and nicknames and also left piles of other clues and evidence that may be the key to solving a number of other cases in the surrounding states… why didn’t he confess to those? Oh, bc *those* states have the death penalty… & now, Kerri has an even more important and meaningful opportunity to heal by helping LE make sense of his notes, determine where/what he was doing at a certain point in time, recognize clues in the photos he took of himself re-enacting his crimes, as well as things like lead them to his favorite campsites and fishing holes… bc it turns out he dumped/buried bodies at those spots. She’s a survivor and an advocate for the unseen and lesser known/recognized victims in these cases… the criminal’s family and loved ones- ppl that share their name and for this reason alone, become targets of misplaced anger and pain from ppl all arnd the world, and that’s ABSOLUTELY uncalled for. Not only should ppl lay off her bc she’s been victimized in this whole process, but one should take a step back and think abt what life was probably like, living with a sexually sadistic, narcissistic, pathological lying, psycho-sociopath that kills ppl to obtain a feeling of power & control he desperately desires & fantasizes abt. What would it be like to live with someone like that? One can’t imagine,,, what kind of abuse did he inflict on the ppl that knew him the most intimately, and could have possibly discerned his identity? He says he would have killed his wife after she noticed that BTK misspelled the same word, in the same way, as he did… except she said nothing else… and he was able to let her live. How terrifying to look back at your entire life & redefine one of the main characters and all the moments you shared. It’s so sad and such a horrific thing to go through, likely questioning if he ever abused her. I’m glad she can recover from some of the trauma she’s been put through and sadness and pain at the loss of her father, and beyond impressed she is helping LE solve cold cases and hope it’s therapeutic for her to help other victims. God bless her.

That would be completely incorrect. Dennis Rader has made it perfectly clear that his violent and perverted fantasies began developing in grade school and by the time he was in junior high he knew exactly what he was. He even recounted being in a car with an attractive girl when he was about 14 and they heard on the radio about a family being murdered, it was a huge story at that time. The story excited him so much that he said he immediately wanted to kill the girl he was with. He wasn't triggered by any military experience to commit his crimes. He stalked his victims for extended amounts of times. That's not being triggered. That's cold, calculated premeditation.

BTK also spied on more potential victims than he killed. Sometimes he would leave them, because the timing was not right. These were not all women living alone though, also family. BTK killed 2 children. You have to remember that it was before cellphones and everyone was scared it would happen to them. If women came home, they would check their phonelines, call a male familymember. So he influenced a lot more people with his fear inducing acts.

Unheard of... family man... everyone knew each other... church going... do we now know that’s where predators lye. It’s like whenever someone dies they lit up the room!!! Apparently no bad people ever pass away.

My heart goes out to her my heart goes out to her because she did nothing wrong she was not responsible for what her dad did that would be like me getting my ass kicked today or Thursday and Friday because something my mom's dad did when he was a teenager a guy by the name of Jason cobbler killed my aunt and I hold no hatred or anger against his children I could but I'm not because those were innocent children that had nothing to do with his murder of my aunt forgiveness is not weak forgiveness is strong holding on to grudges holding on to hate holding on to anger is weakness

It's interesting the interview with his daughter. She would never know if her father came from a good family or not, as a child. She also swore up and down the FBI had the wrong guy! Hahaha. Just shows her cluelessness.

She is not clueless. That's rude. She grew up with a great dad and couldn't wrap her head around the idea that he was capable of killing. The reason why she said he wasn't abused was because she had a great relationship with his parents as well. Of course that doesn't prove if he was abused or not but that is why she had come to that conclusion. Please be more kind and mindful of what you say about her. She is a victim to and is still suffering with Anxiety, Depression, Night terrors, and PTSD due to what her dad. She deserves kindness and understanding.

"u say u r a serial killers daughter. Is that how u see urself"? Well Deb yeah. Lol umm bc she is a serial killers daughter. OMG. ABC maybe it's time to put Deb out to pasture or give her fluff pieces. Bc her questions and demea during this entire interview seems pointed and just weird. Even rushed. But her questions and follow up questions are horrible. So much more important stuff to ask. And she blew it.
