Today, I'm going to walk you through my Favorite ESL Lesson for China and Chinese students: Complaining and Ranting. But first! Follow me on other platforms: www.linktr.ee/austininchina ---- Teaching in China and designing lessons for Chinese students in China is just the best, and this has become one of my favorites: This ESL lesson is about complaining. Concepts explored in this lesson: the use of intensifiers, stress/intonation, and the vocabulary within the content of complaining about something. For China / Chinese students, these concepts are desperately needed! The lesson powerpoint is below!

Lesson aims as well as a few explanations of what you should do outside of the slides are included in the PowerPoint.
Complaining is a universal feature of life. It's a great lesson that students can sink their teeth into, and it's even better because it's without materials. All you need is students and a couple of pictures - no need for even a PowerPoint! No materials needed class? Count me in!
Not that it's an "easy" lesson. The teacher still needs to anticipate problems so as to be able to better answer questions that may come up during the lesson. Interaction patterns also need to be considered, as well as the physical space in the classroom for the final mingling activity.
Good luck!
