It’s pretty nuts how much best selling games 20-30 years ago go for now. Gold and Silver are both common games. They sold like 20 million combined. It’s crazy how expensive they are. I get Neo Geo AES and Saturn prices being stupid. Those games didn’t sell well. Especially AES. I mean games like Samurai Showdown V on AES only has a few hundred copies in existence. Panzer Dragoon Saga on Saturn for the US was less than 5,000 copies. Makes sense they’d be stupid expensive. But stuff like Pokémon Gold being 300 bucks with a box? Game sold at least ten million copies over its lifetime. The market is what it is but I don’t understand it at all.
@drewdman10

@BLNK BLNKRSN it's not sealed in this video. But one of the reasons the games are so expensive now is because a lot of people became pokemon fans after Pokemon Go blew up a few years ago. Back when I lived in Pittsburgh, the secondhand market was amazing and I frequently found games that went for less than what they went for on eBay…either in stores like The Exchange, Games Unlimited, Kobold’s Keep, and many more, or just from other people that sell on Facebook Marketplace or whatever… …but now that I’m in Florida, the retro/secondhand game market down here is abysmal. There’s a grand total of three stores like that in a 50 mile radius, two of which are owned by the same guy that price gouges, and the one that I frequently go to rarely gets any new stuff in that I want. If it was possible for me to have one of my family members in Pittsburgh shop for me while I FaceTime them, I’d do it maybe three days a week haha

I was born in 1984. I started playing RPGs around 1992. I love RPGs and Nintendo. What I will never understand is how people enjoy the Pokémon franchise. Sure, the animals are cute and there is a certain satisfaction of “catching them all”. But gameplay wise or compared to other RPGs? I’m sorry but it is trash tier. I’m not trying to take anything away from people. Some of my favorite games aren’t considered “good”. But with Pokémon, people don’t act like it’s a guilty pleasure. The say two things mostly: 1) “I played it when I was a kid” or 2) “I loved it once it came stateside”. I think if you were 11 or younger when it came out, I get it. But for anyone who was at least 13 in 1999 (the year Pokemon came stateside) I just have to shake my head.
