Another nice hidden feature of the SlickEQ Mastering is if you double-click on the name in the plugin it will automatically randomize the stereo width/difference on all the bands a little bit, and it really creates some of the analog soundstage that I miss with plugins. It gets on a lot of my masters.

I'm waiting for PA to release Kirchhoff this month and going to snag it with my voucher. I picked up Shade a couple years ago after watching your demo video. It's been a workhorse for me as a graphical eq and for sound design fx. I always hear guys in the EDM world speaking highly of it.

I still remember when ProQ3 came out, it was a revolution, now it's just crazy the amount of stuff you can do with just an "equalizer"...I have decided to follow the unique tools the digital world give us instead emulations, together with some hardware it's perfect for me. Thank you David, that was nice to keep us up to date on EQs... cheers

I was excited to learn that Kirschoff EQ is moving to Plugin Alliance. I already have the Plugin Alliance subscription, which is now a crazy good deal at $10 a month. They also have vouchers and sales all the time. Hoping to try it out through the rental, and if I like it, buy it using a voucher.

The Kirchhoff EQ is joining the Plugin Alliance and a new version is coming out apparently. Hopefully in time for Black Friday. I'll be shooting for Oeksound Soothe 2 and perhaps even Arouser, as well as this EQ perhaps. I hope it's as automatable as Pro-Q3.

The biggest surprise for me, is the SSL Channel Strip 2. Although I found it rather uninspiring initially, I instinctively keep pulling it up. Not exactly sure why, but its one of a small handful of plugins that seems to get the job done. There’s something going on with it that its more and more part of my workflow, along with Pultec and Fabfilter.

@@pauliedibbs9028 I’ve never liked the plugin versions of their hardware, waves, pa, UAD etc but the Channel Strip 2 is a bit different. The fact that I keep using it alongside other gotos means something given my history with other ports. Worth a buy when its on sale, the compressor is also very good.

Having used Nova and Slick (and Molotok) free versions for a while, I recently dropped the wallet on Nove GE, Slick GE (3 band version) and Limiter 6 GE. All 3 plugins cost me around £50/60 ($65-75) in total. I would say I am blown away by the quality but the truth is I knew they would be good because the free editions are already very good. The Limiter is the only one I have not tried before. although I have tried an old free where limiter that was essentially the V1 of this (Limiter No6 Vladislav Goncharov), and the Compressor section is basically some of Molotok, which I use a lot. But I have to say the Limiter is really good. I also bought an Audio Assault channel strip AA 551, and it was pretty good. I would be interested to see you review some budget Channel strips. The Audio assault plugin usually costs £20($25) but I got it on sale for £5 ($6/7). Other decent channel strips that cost very little Goliath by Tone Empire, 6X-500 by Lindell Audio, Also free ones like LOADED, FrankCS and STEQ by Analog Obsession and Lifeline Expanse Lite by Excite Audio. Would love to see you review all these and/or similar, as they are all low cost/free, and I trust your judgement. Thanks :D

Hey David, I can’t help but wonder what you think of Waves Manny EQ. It’s an analog emulation of the SSL 9080 XL K for its high and low pass filters; Quad 8 or Neve 1073 for the low end; Quad 8 or Motown for lows/low mids; Motown, 1073 and API 550B for mids/high mids; and Avalon 2055 for its silky high end. In a few of his interviews he mentions it’s his fav EQ plugin and that most people don’t know about it.
