Side note:Listening to Chris Robertson talk about his struggle with depression and his battle to overcome it is incredibly inspiring. Had the same thing since I was a child. My life is run by it. This is definitely one of the best sounding guitars you've had on the channel. P-90s are always great, but that bridge pickup is super chunky and full of personality. Does PRS sell their pickups aftermarket? EDIT: Yes, they do. For over $200 apiece!!! Dang, PRS. You make some great stuff and that pickup sounds amazing, but I'm not going to pay more for it than a semi-custom from Bare Knuckle or a used set of Fluences. Anyway, back to the guitar. I don't think I could ever be comfortable playing it, as pretty as it is. I can't even get comfy with a Les Paul; I am a large man with LARGE hands and long fingers and I've never been able to play short scale guitars comfortably. And that PRS is even shorter (24 1/2") than Gibby's scale (24 3/4")!

Okay I just got mine... and have played it next to my ce24 and core 24 for several hours now. And verdict... it's phenomenal... no joke. It has fuller tone than my other prs guitars. My 24s sound more strat like. The se Robertson definitely shockingly sounds as good as my $4k core 24... just different. Surprisingly when using coil tap with the Robertson there is no volume loss. My core has more volume loss when using coil tap. There is no buzz whatsoever with the Robertson. The p90s give great bright clarity. I had a se 245 before and with the p90s and coil tapping on the Robertson...it brings the 245 style to a whole new level. One of best guitars for price I've ever played... definitely sounds as good as any top dollar guitar I've played... again my core 24 was $4k and the Robertson compares favorably... even the Asian pickups. My core just has fancier top... and locking tuners...

I played this model a couple of months ago at a big box music store. Although it looks awesome, with great pickups, it was overly heavy, way too chunky & felt like a huge, uncomfortable boat anchor. As an SE fanboy, it was great to give it a go, but this was definitely the model I enjoyed the least of any I've played. The early generation Tremonti SE model is lighter, thinner & so much easier to play. That's the beauty of guitars - we all love different things. The CR is a well thought out guitar, just not for everyone.

They are being made in Indonesia now, no long made in Korea. Also the new ones from Indonesia are more of an orange color with little to no actual fade or burst. Of course it is still listed at $800+. Myself I refer the EU version that had a blue finish. I can not understand why there are separate UE and US distribution. That is the reason we never got the Bernie in the US.

I have been super interested in this guitar for quite a while. I have also been waiting for you to finally get your hands on one. My only "complaint" about this video is you seemed more concerned about explaining your potential bias than providing more detail about your actual thoughts after playing it. You hit the spot on that one. Actually the worst tone you can get is by pairing a high output pickup with a high gain amp. The best tones come out of high output pickups through low gain amps which was why a lot of players in the past put SD Super Distortion pickups through Marshall Plexis. Nowadays you can pair medium/low output stock pickups and dial in the gain and volume.
@DaleLyons31

Good demo. Preface: I own PRS guitars and really wanted to like this one. I played one about 6 months ago through an AC30 (from clean to maxed out) and liked the feel of the neck and the contoured shape. The neck felt great and was very playable. But, I couldn't get past the pickups: the P90 was extremely noisy - even for a P90 single coil - at all levels of gain. I'm willing to allow that there is always the chance that the electricity from the wall could be the cause, but bridge humbucker had significant hum as well. I've played in that space before and did not have that issue. I also wondered if the ground wire in the electronics was faulty on that particular guitar. Did you have any similar experiences?

really great song you made for the demo!!!!!!!!!!!! love the p90 in the neck idea, so sick, and obviously PRS woods are among the best. My singular gripe with PRS is if I want a high end PRS they still put nickle frets on, which is hot trash. But still, I own one CE and one SE, 2013 and 2015, both are amazing... my 2013 - 24ce needed a refret in 2016 - only downside is their stance on fret material - paul actually said in a youtube video that his nickle is as hard as stainless, which is a lie. Just youtube search PRS nickle frets, youll see the video of Paul himself talking out of his ass about his nickle vs actual SS frets. But other than fret material - they ARE doing it the best right now out of the big 3...by FAR.

Im gonna be honest, and they could easily have changed them in the recent models, but back when I bought my SE, I demo'ed all the ones in store, going with the "Im an Alter Bridge fan, I love tremonti's tone and playing, I will probably walk out with that guitar, but I will play them all for courtesys sake to make sure there isnt a hidden gem", and it was easily the worst out of the lot, the base custom 245 was better. I walked out with my Spalted Maple Santana and never looked back. Could have been a bad one of the bunch, but i thought it sounded very poor and muddy even with everything on full, and weighed an absolute ton (which I dont mind, my favourite is a telecaster and it weighs tons too, but thought it was worth mentioning). Just my two cents, but I was actually pretty disappointed.
