I really liked the quick maths lesson at the start. Helped alot with standard deviation. I'm starting to add them in now and back test them for a strategy. Thanks for the video !😀

Yes, but market prices are not distributed like a bell. I made a quick algo to test, but it was not successful. However, if you add a filter such as RSI(13) < 25 for buy and RSI(13) > 75 for sell it gets better. And H2 timeframe.

Yes the issue is you get hit by trends. I filter with S&R areas or market context visually.

You are such a dreamer. I'll give you million dollar tip for nothing, because your videos motivate me a lot. DISTRIBUTION OF TIME BASED BARS is non-stationary. What's that? It means that statistical mean and standard deviation are meaningless and can not be calculated. All the quants are using volume or dollar bars. Why? Because these bars have normal or stationary distribution and mean and standard dev. can be calculated. It took me x10 years to find that out.

Excellent tip Etienne. Much thx. I also Use the MACD (11,24,7,EMA) and the StochRSI(60) to give me the momentum and oversold/bought. But of course in a sideways market the MACD tends to be fairly flat and not informative. So the BBs seem like a very good complement and subsitute in these times. I think the Keltner bands are similar... But I trade SPX options not currencies. Cheers

I'll check out your period settings when I get a chance. My 2 cents... I use many indicators with overlaid indicators of different periods. I use to have a full spectrum of EMAs but over time found that they were preventing me from making the trade and eventually removed or dimmed the less important moving averages. I stick to Fibonacci periods throughout the entire system. The system utilizes volatility, momentum/angle, price action (which is itself an ENTIRE study, encompassing candlesticks, candlestick setups, Elliott Wave analysis, Gartely patterns, support/resistance levels, etc), volume (and volume based indicators), stacked time periods, and statistical analysis. In most instances, accuracy rates are approaching 90%, short of making a mistake in analysis OR suffering from a surprise price move, which is random and beyond any system's ability to forecast. Rather than MACD, I utilize PPO, which is price percentage oscillator and provides the benefits of MACD but with smoothing and the normalizing of price into a simple percent. The normalizing is useful in removing underlying specificity and giving you just a good statistical reading of the move. I used to have several standard deviations of the Bollinger bands overlaid but was not able to use them to consistently determine entry. There are some scenarios in which the "volatility squeeze" precedes a major move, when the BB become very valuable. This is predictive and consistent enough to be regularly utilized. Could go on but it's turning into a thesis paper and I've got charts to analyze. Laytah 😅

@@nickchristakes5894 Thx Nick. Not a great believer in Elliot waves. Too woowoo for me. Did not know about PPO. May not have it in IBKR. Will research. BTW I applied Etienne's BB principle to pre-market ES futures today. Gives really good turning points on 3 and 5 minutes charts. Will keep experimenting. Cheers
