My choices: Games for non-gamers: Guillotine Team games: Concordia Venus or Captain Sonar Easy to Learn, Hard to Master: Chess Build a Shared Map: Carcassonne Out of Print: Yokohama (but this is too good to stay out of print forever, right?) or Nippon Fictional Games: Strategema (a game that the Star Trek android Data loses which makes him think he is defective, but then he later gets revenge when he discovers that if he doesn't try to win, he can stalemate and frustrate his opponent) (I love Terraforming Mars, but it feels more like a tile placement game than a real map builder.)

Games for non-Gamers - Puns of Anarchy. One of my absolute favorite games right now and our go to game when my wife and I host non-gamers. Team Games - Decrypto. I got into Codenames playing online with friends, then had a friend introduce me to Decrypto which I enjoyed to more direct interaction over Codenames. Easy to Learn, Hard to Master - I might have picked Magic: the Gathering, but I feel like the Easy to Learn aspect is starting to disappear. Build a Shared Map as you Play - Carcassone. Hard to pick against a classic. Out of Print Games - Not sure which games are out of print, so I'm just gonna pick a game from 1978 I played a lot as a kid at my grandmother's house. Bonkers! Fictional Games - Probably have to pick Baseketball for the fictional sports. Fantastic movie and definitely made up games like this as a kid and had visions of growing those games into what Baseketball became. Love these lists. Been using them to build Christmas/Birthday gift lists!

Quests of Yore: Barley's Edition is a game from The Op Games. It's a nice little RPG for younger people or people who have never played an RPG before. We've had it for a while, but we just found a group willing to try it. We did the first scenario last week, and everyone seemed to enjoy it. There is a chapter in the book about creating your own scenarios, so you can continue on after you're done.

for non-gamers, team games and easy to learn hard to master I would say one night, its one of the games that got me into board games, I have played it regularly since it came out. for shared map I would say xia, I really like rolling dice in meaning full ways and I think it does it in multiple meaning full ways(though hopefully, it will be eclips second dawn when I get it). For fictional games I have to say pokemon, I played it all throughout my childhood, though a really good second option is whatever holographic game ratchet and clank were playing in ratchet and clank 3 into.

Rumble Nation is right now my go to game for any player count; it’s a game that fits perfectly into my style and preferences for gaming, light yet strategic, easy to teach, a little luck with easy replay ability, and takes no longer than 30 minutes. It has a “backgammon” type of feel to it and brings back memories of playing Risk as a kid, in fact, we call it “ Japanese Risk”. The cascade feature really makes the game, as that part adds skill and separates it from other dice games. It gets a 10/10 for me in a any category.

I used to spend hours playing Sabacc in KOTOR before going back to the dulcet tones of HK-47 calling me a meatbag. You listed all the fictional games inside fiction I would have but just a board game based on a novel IP that I would love would be Good Omens. Not sure how it would be implemented. Worker placement where you have to balance not peeving off upstairs or downstairs too much while trying to stop the end of the world from occuring? Ticket to ride first journey and Catan Jr both have did a wonderful job of getting my son more open to deeper board games. Now he plays the full Ticket to ride and enjoys Carcassone every once in a while.

Ok, most of these will be brief, except for the fictional game one because I am very fond of my choice on that one ;) Game for non-gamers: Wits and Wagers. We play a lot of party/trivia games with family, and I think Wits and Wagers does a good job of allowing people that aren’t good at trivia to win. Team Game - Star Wars Risk, by default of being the only team game I own! Easy to learn, hard to master - Dominion. I can teach almost anybody how to play Dominion, but learning how to plan the interactions of your cards and how to properly judge what is good in a setup takes skill. Build a Shared Map - I don’t own any, but I can assure you that this WILL be Clank Catacombs once it arrives on Tuesday! Out of Print - Formula E. This game is so unique, it’s a racing game that has truly unique mechanisms at play, and is quite fun! Fictional Game - Triple Triad. This is a CCG within Final Fantasy 8 that you can actually play against NPCs. Your card collection gets stronger and stronger as the game progresses, allowing you to take on the strongest players in the game. Every run through I’ve ever done of FF8 has always devolved into hours of Triple Triad instead. As a side note, Level 99 has a small game called Sellswords, which I think has to have been inspired by Triple Triad. It’s not exactly the same game, but it lets me bring a game I love to the tabletop.
