Did your man not help with anything? I find they’ll take out trash, deal with car(s), bills, random things and then if things to help with asking specifically. Difference is, if they are sitting there it’s because they don’t care and/or know you want to do it your way & why bother. I’ve learned to not get upset when spouse doesn’t care about something, there are completely different things he cares about that I don’t. Majority of men won’t just offer to help and/or clean up on their own, it’s not so black & white to expect. Their brains are very very different and honestly, that’s a good thing, supposed to compliment not be the same.

My ex sat around and watched me do everything. House work, yard work, bills, child care etc... if I even asked him to put his dish in the dishwasher because i just cleaned up the kitchen, he'd unload on me and tell me I was a controlling bitch and treating him like a slave. He didn't want anything to do with finances and said i was just with him for his money because I would try to make sure he was in the loop on what bills were coming up (so hopefully he wouldn't spend it on his junk). He didn't even want to take his own vehicle's to the mechanic and would tell me to do it while he was out of town. Some men are literally just lazy and entitled brats that think that they work so they shouldn't have to lift a finger elsewhere. When they find a women who can do it all, they've literally hit the "mommy i never had" jackpot, and take advantage of it. News flash, I worked too. And he was mad about it because he didn't want to pay for child care. 🙄 Good riddance to him and any man that acts like an over grown child.

@@lily6246 I think it depends on what's in the spray bottle. I usually use a bit of dish soap to clean my floors. If it's safe enough for my dishes (that I eat off of) then that's that. I've also seen people use a vinegar/water mixture. Which is definitely safe. If you mop the floors every day, then there is less of a need for harsh chemicals. And since she's doing this after the kids go to bed, then the only one breathing the spray in is her.

How much chemical cleaningproducts do you use 😲😢😣 It's your decision, but I find it quite unneccesary and think about environmental consequences. For production of every bottle there is a lot of energy and other ressources needed and the substances poison the water, so clearing stations (don't know the word for Klärwerk 😅) need a lot of energy for cleaning the water, too. I use only a small part of the amount that you use and believe me: my flat is also clean and I am 53 years old and no problems with bacteria or health issues because of not spraying poisonous chemicals everywhere around. And then people wonder about increasing allergies and so on. Please don't get me wrong: it's not about blaming or bullying you as a person. You're a loving mom and a caring woman who does things with good purpose for sure. Plus you share your insights with others. Women’s hormonal cycle is monthly versus a man’s being daily. At the end of a female cycle she is very exhausted from menstruation. The later in the day the less testosterone’s man has and in turn less energy. In order to restore energy and testosterone men need adequate sleep at night in dark places. Exposure to endocrine disrupters in commons scented cleaning products is also very dangerous to men’s health reducing testosterone levels increasing estrogen and putting all genders exposed at risk for reproductive health complications. Men sitting on the couch at night is a natural state after a long day as he is essentially experiencing fatigue that is akin to what women experience on their period. Tired or not, he should be able to contribute to household work but more likely in the morning. Both parents need to do housework since both work now. I doubt her troubles were all about him sitting on the couch just some frustration she was willing to share. To your point, many men do not take criticism very well, the same can be said for women. It’s immature to respond to criticism with consigning to the couch. Everyone is abused by the system we live in and the stress burden is just too much.

@@djlivvy46 I agree, it's a complex situation but the thing I have a problem with is the way she is airing these things out on the internet. I assume that with her kids she would approach the subject a little bit more delicately because their father is still their parent. When they grow up and see that their mother is talking this badly about their father online it's probably going to sting. I know it did for me when I overheard my mother telling random people how awful my father was. Divorce is painfull enough for children, let's not make it worse than it has to be

@@Kim-dl2uk - I still don't think she is talking badly about him. She's just being honest about his behaviour because it played such a big part in their divorce, just as it does for most women. It's ironic that men don't feel the need to tiptoe around any subject in order to spare their children's feelings.

Men will sit if we don't know to ask them for help. They are not wired to respond like a woman would, and will help when asked in the way their wiring understands. See Dr John Grays many books on why this is; its very serious indeed that many children don't have a father, and sometimes it can be due to our ignorance about how to have thriving balanced relationships. A bit more humility to educate ourselves on how to be good partners is key. Peace 🙏💖

Women aren't "wired to respond." They're conditioned by society. Society can condition men if it can condition women. It's not the fault of women for not asking for help.

100%. It’s a conflict in how many of us were raised. Many women are afraid to ask for help. Same with a lot of men. With my husband, he was so shamed for not being perfect, he was afraid to do things. He’s such a perfectionist, he won’t even try bc he’s so afraid of failing. With me, I’m so afraid of being a burden, I won’t ask for help. lol failures all around. Both parties meaning well but it ends up hurting everyone. We’re much better now. It takes a lot to retrain neglect and emotional trauma from childhood.

Do young mothers really get divorced because their husbands don't tidy up?

It’s obviously more to it. But the lack of cleaning is just the icing on the cake. PLUS who’s to say she initiated the divorce OR that it had anything to do with cleaning…?

If you're doing all the work anyway, there's no point in being tied to that other person who basically wants to just be able to sleep with the live-in maid while expecting them to maintain their looks even though the husband probably didn't. You get to keep all your money, not be resentful of their expectations and lack of help, and in general have more freedom. There's also no sense of sexual obligation and pressure. They're all shocked when they don't help and then the wife doesn't want to put out later because she's tired and mad.

The underlying issue is that a clean home helps the wife feel less stressed. When a husband doesn’t help clean, his behavior says that he doesn’t care that his wife is stressed. Now to be fair to the husbands out there, some wives can be TOO focused on things being clean. And yet no amount of cleanliness can help them actually relax. But messiness is the most easy visual thing to be stressed about. Either way, there is no coming together to actually get into what the root of the problem is. For example, expecting everything to be spotless with young kids is a bit ridiculous. But never helping with cleaning is also just as ridiculous.

Use the last singular brain cell you have to understand that divorce isn't initiated smoothly or after one event.
