There is nobody with a voice like Whitney Houston. Her vocals, tone and utter perfection is unmatched and amazingly mind-blowing how she can control her vocals and runs so effortlessly. This is what ICONIC sounds and looks like when you've been doing this since childhood, when you've put in the work over years and years of sacrifices, focus and commitment to perfecting your vocals and talent. RIP Whitney, I know GOD is so very happy to have you singing for him now and to listen to an angel's voice. You will forever be ICONIC and EPIC.

Right there with you, man. I could listen to this 100 times and it would still blow me away. The control she had with her voice and the effortlessness with which she sang is extraordinary. For me, nobody tops this performance. This is one of those songs that, no matter who you think you are as a singer, you don't even attempt. There are very few songs like that, where once the right person sings it, it's over. You're relegating yourself to karaoke at a bar where everyone's hammered. She's the greatest female singer I've ever heard. Nobody can sing with such passion, skill, emotion and precision while looking like they're not destroying their vocal cords. It's a shame what happened to her.

I hope you will take the opportunity to listen to the original by the one and only Miss Dolly Parton. Both versions are remarkable. Different styles but both equally remarkable. Dolly wrote and recorded this song in 1973/74. She was trying to get out of a contract with Mr. Porter Wagoner to pursue a solo career, he refused so she went home and wrote this song that night, came back to studio the next day, sang it for Mr. Wagoner who agreed to let her go if she would give him and his studio the song. The rest is history. Dolly was thrilled Miss Huston's version did so well.

Fun fact is that country music superstar Dolly Parton actually wrote this song and she has recorded it and it’s one of her signature songs. She did not know that Whitney Houston had recorded this song for the movie the bodyguard until she was in her car going home and heard it on the radio andhad to pull over because she was overcome with so much emotion that she was afraid she was going to wreck her car. She said this is the most overwhelming feeling she has ever had when someone has recorded her music. RIP Whitney. Gone too song and too tragic.

There are a few singers who can do this, there have been some opera singers, jazz singers, then these super emotional and genuine and uber talented pop singers, but yes someone from every genre really when i think about it....and they do leave you just flattened and completely feeling raw. It is beautiful and sad at the same time, not sure why, maybe it just reminds us of what we easily take for granted.
