When you don't feel like you're thirsty anymore and you start to feel a little bit like you're catching some sort of flu, that's when you have to start drinking even more water. The first time I got heat exhaustion when I was 12 years old and it's brutal. Thank God for air conditioning, refrigeration, add ice machines. Just think 100 years ago people didn't have those conveniences. I love the art museum very beautiful. I always appreciate when you visit the museums. Kansas City really know how to do barbecue. What so does Texas and South Carolina. There is definitely a rivalry and point of contention between those regions. I love them all. They all know how to do barbecue Justice. Keep up the good work Marie and God bless you and the fine people of Kansas City and Texas.❤

KC BBQ is awesome and I'm so glad you enjoyed it. Potato salad? Absolutely one of my favorites. It was obvious from your face you were overheating. As others have said, humidity makes the heat index really bad because our bodies need to sweat enough to overcome the humidity to cool our core down. Drink a lot of cold water (so your body can sweat to cool down), don't wear a hat (unless it's very "vented" like a straw hat), keep your hair tied back, tank-top shirt, and loose-fitting lightweight shorts, and don't walk around in the sun. Finally, the sun "bakes" the ground so it was probably radiating 95+ degrees upward.

I think the heat difference in Florida compared to Missouri is the humidity. It's like a sauna where it's harder to breathe. Yeah, foreigners think Americans are wasteful with A/C, but it's really a life necessity. My daughter had to go to the hospital with heat exhaustion and get an IV. She tried to flush the toilet with the light switch, and couldn't even keep water down. That was here in Northern Illinois and probably under 100°. Like others said, try Arizona where it had 81 day streak of temps ABOVE 100°! (37° C)
@ryanjacobson2508

Dry heats can actually be more dangerous as sweat can evaporate so fast that a person might be fooled into thinking it isn't THAT bad outside. Whereas 80 degrees and high humidity immediately feels swampy and makes you want to slow down.
@williamhamilton6643
3 күн бұрын
@@ryanjacobson2508 You're absolutely right. When I moved to SoCal from Ann Arbor, Michigan I would get dehydrated and not even realize it. I was used to being soaking wet with perspiration in Michigan, so I knew I needed to hydrate. But in CA I'd be dry but just as dehydrated. One time I got heat stroke riding my motorcycle in 105 degree temps and didn't realize it until my buddies saw me and diagnosed what I wasn't able to realize myself. You get clammy feeling and stop sweating, then your body can't regulate your temperature and it can get dangerous very quickly. By the time that happens you're already in trouble if you don't immediately seek cooling and liquids. I think Marie was reaching the point where water alone wasn't enough and she should have bought a big bottle of Gatorade.

There is a toy museum as well. They also have a very lively entertainment portion of the downtown. They have a symphony orchestra and several playhouses. In the fall there is the American Royal, with a rodeo and also a barbecue contest. There are contestants from all over the US. The Nelson is a world-class museum and one of my favorite places to visit. When I was a kid, my mom and I would go there for my birthday every year, and then Winstead's for lunch after. Either that or the zoo, depending on the weather. I love that the admission is free - money shouldn't get in the way of art, in my opinion It does get ridiculously hot here. It's the humidity that makes it so rough - the thermometer says 88 but your body says 100 If you ever come back, please visit the National WWI Museum and Memorial - it's another world-class museum and well worth the visit :)
