Just did irrigation in my backyard and planted Bermuda grass. Excited to be able to mow in a few weeks. Been binge watching channels like yours. I appreciate all the tips.

Great video and well done on the slab! Bringing the turf up to level with the concrete pad sounds like a lot of leveling. How about planting a flower bed there and installing some irrigation!? Might be less hassle, help conceal the shed and provide a pop of color back there. Plus it’ll give you several more video ideas. Just thinking out loud here. Keep up the good work! J

We’ve been watching a lot of dry pour video’s recently, yours is by far one of the best. Have you considered skim-coating the high side of the pad instead of raising the grade? Thanks for sharing.

Skim coat should be no problem. Just use a mortar mix with no course aggregate or a mix specifically for patch work. You could even add color to it if you wanted. I’n not a fan of the dry pouring fad going on and have seen some spectacular fails. A backyard shed without any real structural value? Maybe, but I still wouldn’t personally do it. -Admittedly Bias Career Concrete Guy-

I did use an edge troll but I needed a sharper edge because the ground was so hard.

Good technique- I watched this similar video with two white dudes. One of them ripped off the frame and it damaged a large portion of the slab and they under watered the slab so it was totally shit job.

That actually kinda looks like it went wrong? There shouldn’t be those cracks especially the one that goes from one side all the way across at the top. It forms a shelf.

I'm always looking to improve. It's been solid for about 5 months. I will probably skim coat the side.

I didn't realize you put rocks and trees at the top of the slope. Between that, the shed, and your pool, aren't you concerned that you're eliminating a big chunk of your lawn?
@TheALG
4 ай бұрын
Not at all. I wanted more privacy and the tress will go at a max height of 15 ft which is what I needed. The remaining bermuda will not be affected since the trees are more north

when you were tamping the gravel, I don't see the cinder blocks...did you dry pour over the blocks? looks like you formed around the blocks, is that right?
@TheALG
Ай бұрын
Cinder block down first, rebar in between the holes, dry pour concrete in between the cinder blocks, gravel over everything, tamper down then dry pour everything. Hope this makes sence

Is it possible to dig the foundation in to make it level that way instead of raising it off the ground?
@TheALG

I did consider that but with the slope and my neighbor up the hill, I was afraid the rain will wash onto the slab and into the shed

I’m on day 2, how many times did you water and for how many days after day 2? My slab is the same size as yours !
@TheALG
20 күн бұрын
After it has crusted over, I water for 2 more days on the heavy setting about 4 times. I then don't do anything to it for at least 1 week. I left my forms for well over a month but that s a bit overkill.

@@TheALG I’m seeing some loose gravel on the borders, should I pour some powder minus gravel quickrete on it then mist as I’m on day 2?
@TheALG

@cityboysllc it's too late since you started the watering. What I would do is wait until everything is dry then do a skim coat to make sure everything is even.

@@TheALG so really quick, Day 1 - 3 mists 30 mins apart Day 2 - 7 showers 1 hr apart Day 3 - 3 showers 3 hr apart Day 4 - 3 showers 3 hr apart Am I done watering now? I’m in AZ so it’s not cold here and no rain. 64sf slab 4 inch height.

@cityboysllc yeap, your done. Now wait and don't do anything to it. If you can get 1 rain fall, that would be great.
