By the manual, Juranovitch promoted this kind of sharpening in the sixties. I call it Hamon sharpening

Interesting, but not sure I'm following. What sort of sharpening specifically?

That looks very similar to the first couple of knives I attempted to sharpen on my Tormek. 😂

@@goforbroke2 🤣 why read a manual when you can guess? It’s the manly choice. But seriously, this is why I make videos. I make them to my former self. I figure I’m not that unique and there must be others who need to be told in simple terms the right way to operate these machines.

Thanks for sharing everything. I am feeling Pretty pleased with my first efforts, thanks to you I have done around 10 now and made nothing but immaculate edges!!! My tip and heel work takes a long time but, again thanks to your skill sharing I haven't had to learn the hard way!!! Definitely owe you a brew or 2!

@@rhinejuice grinding tip first?

@@iSharpen 95% tip first yup! Start at heel to get heel bevel clean and main bevel established. Just the first couple of passes, then its tip first all the way from there! I find starting at the heel avoids having to dwell and I lose the least amount of material blending into finished heel.

@@rhinejuice as long as it works for you. I get ridiculed for starting tip first but the results speak for themselves.

@@iSharpen F those that think they know! You could ask why they might be watching a tutorial video if they are experts! As you say proof is in the pudding! Keep being you and ignore anyone that doesn't get it!
