That instrument cluster absolutely screams 1980s. The whole bike does, in fact. I love it!

Doesn't it?! Haha thanks. I'm on the fence on wether or not to eventually swap it out for something more modern. But it definitely fits

Thought you did relatively well on your first street riding event. Need a little more practice with your hand brake and clutch lever control, but I know folks who do far worse than you who have ridden for years. Part of that seems to be the bike idling down as it should, so that may be the cables. Hope you've held onto this Sabre, as they are getting hard to find these days. Great tagging along with you, and hope your well and happy, seeing the New Year ahead. Best wishes.

Great bike bud! I have an 82 750 sabre as well. I've had it for years and love it! It's got a full fairing and hard bags. This was the fastest production bike in 1982. Pretty sure late 83 or 84 they detuned the engine due to tariffs. It's a bit of a pain shifting from 1 to 2. It loves to miss or pop out of 2nd if you dont set it firmly. It still gets me now and then, usually when there are people around! Haha. Check out the sabre group on fb. Lots of hardcore sabre owners with tons of knowledge. Happy and safe riding!

I love this bike! It has been a surprisingly-good starter bike haha. I'll check out that Sabre group on FB. I should be on the V4 Muscle Bike forums site

@@AgentTekk It'll beat an 01 electra glide haha....just ask my buddy. It's got a sweet spot. If you know where it is...she'll pull like a freight train! The higher revs 7000 up to red line is good when you need it,but not good for normal riding. The sweet spot is around 3900 to 6500. There are a couple engine experts that offer different cams/internals ect. These bikes can be insane! Enjoy!

I had a red '83. I loved that bike. I drove it around southern Alabama when I was in Army flight school in 1987. I use to stop by the old churches on Sundays and listen to the choirs. It was like a time machine back to the 1920s. I did have an issue with the gear on the back wheel wearing out and it started slipping. The bike also had a security cable that would plug into the side.

I bought my ‘85 v45 Sabre this spring, lots of crazy fun! If you want the extra kick...and another 27 mph to your 100 get your carbs sync’d...thank me later! I had shifting issues with the transmission as well but ended up being the clutch.

Nice bike dude, I have the same bike but the model after yours, 85 vf700 it's molded little haven't turned it on in nearly two years, it's going under rebuild right now. I'm anxious to put it back together and turn it on, I never got to see how it felt because I bought it not running right, so we'll see what happens with that, but I also have a 2000 zrx1100 Kawasaki.
