I got a new to me 2004 Kawasaki Vulcan 1500 Classic up from a Honda Shadow 750 and I was scared shitless for about 2 minutes until I realized I'm riding a 2 wheeled Cadillac from the 1970's. It's like it's on a rail. I can't wait to get a 1600

That is how it was for me too. The difference in ride quality of the larger V twin versus the smaller 750 was not something I expected. The larger bikes are certainly smoother.

@@LuckyAcesRiding Yes, for sure and MUCH more stable in the wind. I felt like I was being blown around on the 750 Shadow, yet the 1500 Vulcan is like on rails.

Ive got a 1600 and I bully the wind haha It's weird how light and nimble the handling feels compared to even my mom's 900 classic

I found a great little upgrade for my 06 Mean Streak, and think you'll really appreciate it. The foot pegs from a Vulcan 750 will fit right on it like they were made for it, and they have a rest that extends from the backside of them to put your heels on to prevent fatigue on the long rides. Good luck.

Under no circumstances and I allowed to bring a saw anywhere near this motorcycle! I try to be a decent guy even though it seems like that has been counter productive at times. Thanks for the kind words.

Thanks! It honestly feels like the Honda Shadow on steroids. I am very surprised the transition between the two is as easy as it is. They certainly feel different in terms of quality as well.

@LuckyAcesRiding I don't know much about that particular bike, but so far, from what I have seen, it looks really great. Question. I think you have said before that you're not really thinking about longer trips. If that's correct, any change in thoughts now that you have more power?
@LuckyAcesRiding

Longer trips were always the idea, just not on the Shadow. Not that it wouldn't do it but the vibration wouldn't be comfortable for long periods. The larger twin is still around 3500 rpm at 75mph but the bike feels much smoother. Mostly it is nerves and making excuses than have been holding me back. @@meandmyshadow7839

@LuckyAcesRiding I understand completely. Unfortunately for me, I just have to force myself. I push back the "what if factor" as much as possible. You know, for me, it's like, what if I break down? What if I get in an accident? What if I suck (ohh wait, that's a truth, lol). I find that once I get out there, I'm having a great time. For me, it's always fear of this that or the other that holds me back. Like I said....I suck lol!!!

Fear of the unknown I guess. Been dealing with that my whole life. It sucks knowing what your issues is, how to fix it, but can't do anything about it.@@meandmyshadow7839

feels natural to you because you have mastered your balance, so now any of the bigger bikes will feel just like your Shadow
@LuckyAcesRiding

I had not considered that. It seems to sit just a tad lower than the Shadow as well which seems to really help.
@theduffman441

I don't know about that, both of his bikes are very similar. Built around the same platform. Both low v twins from similar manufacturers. So that helps the transition from one bike to the other. I mastered my shadow but when I made the change to my Valkyrie there was a definite learning curve. It's a very different bike. The power plant is different The handlebars are different. The suspension is different. So even though I mastered the basics the fact that the bike is completely different means that it will never feel like my shadow did. Even though they are both cruisers even though they are both Honda's. The mechanics of riding are the same but the feel and experience will never be the same on either of those two bikes because they are so different.

The Mean Streak doesn't feel any heavier than the Shadow does and I attribute that to the low center of gravity of both bikes. You are correct in saying the different riding feel is different mainly due to the riding position (hands, feet). It'll take some time but eventually I'll be able to whip it around like I can the Shadow. @@theduffman441

Congrats brother! I ride a warrior 1700, if you think the meanstreak is fast, the warrior is even faster. Those meanstreaks are sick & have great brakes & the suspension & handling are better than the warrior. My first bike was a Honda shadow ace 750, then I had an 1100 aero, but the warrior is a handful! Enjoy your muscle bike brother!
