Diana Krall is an amazing jazz vocalist and pianist from Canada, she also sometimes crosses over into the pop charts with some of her songs. You would probably appreciate her versions of Just The Way You Are and Autumn in New York.

Diana is a wonderful jazz pianist and singer. She’s married to pop star, Elvis Costello. She’s working with producer extraordinaire, David Foster here. He’s on the electric keys. He’s written R&B hits for several artists. Polo- I live in beautiful California. If you’re ever out this way, we would be honored to show you the sights of Monterey and Carmel!

Diana grew up on the coast of BC. She is an incredible pianist as well ar a great vocalist. When she entered 8th grade Junior High in Nanaimo BC she asked to be in the Jazz band. The teacher, Brian Stovall told her the Jazz band was for seniors, then he asked her to sit down and play the piano, the rest is history! If you dive into the ocean of Diana Krall be prepared to dive deep, this is an ocean, not a lake, and you will go on a journey.

Diana Krall is one of my very favorite singers!!! She's got the whole package. She doesn't have the greatest range but she knows how to phrase a song so it's like you never heard that song before. She plays a terrific jazz piano, and she's a really beautiful woman! Check out When I Look in Your Eyes from the album of the same name. Also love Popsicle Toes, Besame Mucho, Cry Me a River, and the list goes on!

I grew up to the Mamas and Papas original, but Diana Krall's singing really caught my ear in recent years. Wow! This jazzy shift with melancholy is great. I grew up in NJ now CT. I find out NE short days so gloomy, she nailed it. Full spectrum light therapy helps chase the sad depression, but exquisite song emotions like this make it all worthwhile ! ❤

Dear Polo, A suggestion: Take your son and all your favorite tunes, get on a plane bound for LAX, rent a car-it has to be a convertible or topless Jeep, hit the Santa Monica freeway down to Pacific Coast Highway, turn right. Drive about two hundred miles along the coast, watching the terrain change as you head north. When you hit Morro Bay, take Highway 1, 70 miles going north, crawling along the edge of the world with the ocean below. You will go through some of the most amazing scenery you’ll ever see, including redwood trees older than us all. In San Francisco, turn in your rental, get on a plane and go home. Ask your son what he thought of what he saw, and we’d love your reaction to that life experience.

As other people have said, Diana Krall is an amazing jazz vocalist and pianist. She has incredible control over her voice. Listening to some of her songs can make me melt. I listened to one of her songs on early DVD-A format through an audio receiver and stereo system. The quality was so incredible you could even clearly hear her breaths during pauses in the music. If I closed my eyes, it seemed like she was in my room singing to me. I've been in love with her singing ever since. Side note: she's been married to Elvis Costello for the last 20 years. He also has a background in jazz.

My husband saw Diana Krall when she was 16 or 18 years old in Saskatoon give a concert. When she played “Peel Me a Grape” every male in that room was captivated! Her piano playing was off the chart at that young age. He saw her a few more times and he cannot say enough about her! I have not had the pleasure of seeing her in person but we have almost all of her CD’s and they are wonderful. Her “PARIS” DVD of her is phenomenal. I highly recommend all of her music.

Interesting request. There’s a video of her and hubby Elvis Costello on a show with their good friend Elton John. (Interesting music couple since he’s rock and she’s jazzy.) Their twins have had quite the musical upbringing. Have you reacted to Elvis Costello? I like his song Veronica, co-written with Paul McCartney. (Paul plays bass on it.) It’s about a woman with memory loss; inspired by his grandmother.

Yes, beautiful song. As a Californian most of my life, California has a lot of positives. Definitely not the same as it used to be. A friend and I were reminiscing about what it was like living here in the’70’s and ‘80’s. It was incredible. Currently far more people, more crowds, more traffic, less of that California artsy culture and more crime. Some places, like the SF piers, have sadly been Disney-fied As a teen here I used to love listening to most of the songs you review. I heard them on the Wolfman Jack radio in the ‘60’s - “Can ya dig it?” There’s no one like him now that I know of.
