As a pro painter myself & i mean 20 years of EVERYTHING from cars to fighter jets, tiny airbrushes to massive airless kits & everything in between I've never sprayed vertically up & down yet all these vids do that? The 6 inch bit above the windows for instance could have been done in one horizontal stroke instead of the 10 vertical ones? The only time i go up & down is when i double track, a method of firstly painting left to right then instead of turning the air cap i simply turn my wrist 90 degrees & 'double track' the same area vertically up and down, just a thought/tip? Good job all the same & no matter how you spray the finish will be always be a massive improvement on brush & roller 😊

I sprayed a rental property from top to bottom with this same sprayer. It worked good but inside tight areas like closets were tough. I had several areas than ran (I wonder if back rolling would have solved that problem) understanding when pressure should be high vs low was huge, keeping your wrist straight for 1800 sq ft of painting was HARD, and keeping your speed consistent when the trigger is pulled wasn’t easy but overall it came out decent (had to do a second coat the next day due to missing my 50% overlap in a few areas and not back rolling. This is a good starter video!!! Thanks

Thanks for this demo FTH. I'm a lime putty plasterer who uses an electric sprayer to apply lime paint (lime wash) for all my internal and external paint jobs because not only do so when shopping in my local Lidl supermarket, near the fish and dairy in their tool section there was a Parkside airless spraying system for £120 ( $162.59) and had to have it. I've commented on many KZitem films, to ask if it's OK for lime wash but nobody's responded back, your film is the first that's even mentioned water based paints, I like spraying, it gets to parts other beers cannot reach and is so much better than painting because you leave no brush marks or bristles and with care and consistency you cover the surface evenly and better and faster. For internal coloured paint jobs I'll used a water based emulsion, the cheaper the better, and never use any pig fat in the final coat, there's no point because you want a breathable paint and any fat will make it non-porous. I also noticed that you just spayed it once, and after spending so long taping and masking area's, why not add at least 2 more, it would look even better and when you asked what people thought, I think you need 2 more and you should have filled/caulked along the wall top at 7:31. The rest of your house looks fine and there is no better feeling than coming home to your loved one and watching a good box-set in front of a log fire on a cold winters night in your own domain. At the 800 year old Torre Abbey in Devon I worked on doing the lime putty, rough-cast finish as part of a £32 million project in about 2006 I just did the plastering, inside and out and some other contractors did the painting but inside one of the courtyards you could see the 200 year old (or older) lime paint and I counted 4 to 5 layers, this is because the old lime paint had a thickener like casein added to it up whereas with normal lime wash, if painted on too thickly it will later crack and peel off. Been working with lime since about 2001 and worked on many old castles, churches and stately homes, seen many strange things but never a ghost (that's another story) and lots of old bodge jobs by the ancients as werll as some of the most amazing things like embossed leather wallpaper. I only work with putty mortars and plasters, no hydraulic, hydrated or cement and make my own mixes after slaking the quicklime, it's such a versatile material and helps to better protect your background walls and surfaces, acting as the sacrificial coat for the main surface as well as absorbing moisture like our breath and CO2. Another bonus is that you get better acoustics in the finished room. Lastly with all the waste water and sludge I keep it and use it to make more mortar or paint for the next job because lime putty will keep for hundreds of years and the older it becomes, the stickier and better it gets. Live long and prosper, all the best from a hillside in England.

@@Mike-wh9dq, it sure is interesting plus you get to work in some ancient places and using lime putty unlike cement, gypsum and hydraulic limes there's no shelf life limit so you never need to bin it. Good vid. I just sprayed on clear seal coat on half my fence with the same model right before I watched the video. It is pretty much this simple. The most difficult part of the process is the clean up, but even that isn't difficult at all. Using mineral spirits with oil based products would be a bit more difficult just because of proper disposal, but the process start to finish is pretty simple.

Yes it does drip a little bit and I realized and like anything else you have to get the hang of it but always good to have a Roller and a brush handy just in case. Your husband is is correct it can get messy because of the overspray, so I highly suggest to mask off everything and put dust barrier walls on adjacent rooms you don’t want getting overspray on. I think you and the machine did a great job! Since the paint is a thinned down version of paint, don't you need to spray a second coat? I think I would feel much better having a 2nd if not 3rd coat of paint, just thinking about wear and tear on the finish. Also do you need to spray a primary coat of primer prior to the actual paint? Honestly I am presently struggling with painting my house with a brush! My mother and I did it 18 years ago and so I decided to do it again, but I am doing it alone! Therefore, this sprayer looks like heaven to me! Would you also be able to spray under the eves, which I hate painting!!!

I been using this same sprayer for awhile now complete houses with it they say it's not good enough to do big houses but I have painted thousands of square feet at first was kinda slow with it but after awhile I got different tip for more spray and wider spray and rough spray and fine spray just got experiments with it and it will surprise you something that isn't worth the money is the roller for the Graco sprayer not a big fan

Instead of masking off all the doors and windows and whatnot one guy I saw paints to within a couple of inches and then finishes with a brush. Do you think that is a good technique?
@FixThisHouse
3 жыл бұрын
That is a great technique when you are painting with a roller, the risk with using a sprayer is overspray. It’s possible you just need to be super careful and spray paint far away from windows after you paint the edges, but I highly recommend masking because it’s like painting a car 🙏🏽👍🏽😊

Great Video! Did you use paint that had primer in it? And wondering if you had to do two coats with the sprayer? I think i am sold on this.
@FixThisHouse
3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Yes I went to Home Depot and they gave me a ready to use without primer mixture. I did only did one coat and it’s holding up really well! I live here in the Pacific Northwest where it rains a lot and so far it’s holding up really well, but if you’re unsure, a second coat is always best! 🙏🏽👍🏽😊
