A lot of people around the world might wonder why so many Americans never leave the US and visit other countries, but it takes so long just to see everything our own country offers that many of us simply never get around to visiting places outside the US.

This is why so many Americans never leave the country. My wife and I just got back from a short four day trip. We drove over 2000 miles and only went to our neighboring states. We've been to 48 states and seen a lot but we're going to get too old to go any more before we run out of things to see.

It's true. We are very fortunate to have most of what the world offers in climate and terrain. Our cuisine has improved remarkably since I was a child in the 60's and 70's, thanks to many outside influences. There are amazing things to see and experience abroad, yet so many reasons for us to stay here. Happy you found us and love it here!

And for the price of a one week trip to Paris with the family you could spend three weeks in the US traveling. Same language, same currency. But, I do want to go to Switzerland. You need to travel outside the US at least once in your life.

I’ve seen many great things in France, but my favorite is not a thing, but the great French people I’ve meant. And by the way, there are great people in every country. Yes, there are people who do terrible things in every country too, but at 66 I’m convinced that good, decent people predominate the world over.

Bonjour Marie, the US is roughly 4 million square miles, so there's a lot of room for a lot of destinations. By contrast, France is 213,000 square miles, making the US twenty times larger. 🇨🇵🇺🇲

We are truly 50 different countries all smashed into one nation! All states are uniquely different, but at the same time, similar to the neighboring states. Luckily, I have been to 37 different states and would love to finish the set. My family has plans for vacations in the next couple of years and I hope to cross off a few more states if possible!

Ah you guys too. You go to Alsace you have German architecture and food. You go to Britanny you have Celtic culture. You go to Occitanie of Basque, you have a completely different language. You go to Marseille you have a large North African influence. You go to Corsica you feel like you're in another country. Your country is located on 4 different continents. You can go to Guadeloupe, Martinique or Réunion and you have volcanoes, rainforest, coral reefs and Creole culture. You can bask on a tropical beach and you're still in France. You go to Mayotte and it's like you're in an Islamic country. You've got the highest mountain in western Europe and the largest dune. The oldest cave paintings. You can actually visit the Amazon Rainforest in FRANCE! You can go to the south and experience bullfighting. You've got red rocks, marshland, karstic landscape, vineyards. I agree that the U.S. has unique geographical features that are found nowhere else on earth, but don't take for granted that you also live in one of the most diverse and interesting countries in the world. No other country has territory on almost every continent. And only one other occupies all four hemispheres. You're gonna be the first country to not only host the summer Olympics on two continents, but also in two hemispheres and in two seasons. You will have a summer Olympic event taking place in winter. I think that makes France even more unique.

Did Marie go to Alaska? If she did, I missed that one. Keep on truckin’ Marie!
