It's a GREAT feeling!!! I told my husband today when he came home that after this last canning batch I was in the middle of doing, it would be it until December(ish) when I would do more beans (or meats). I canned 7 quarts of corned beef and it feels so good to put my canner away. This garden season has me utterly exhausted. Im not complaining though, I have such a stocked pantry and I love it! Although we arent dealing with job loss, furloughs, or seasonal unemployment (well, it isnt ever out of the question since we own our own company) but I do keep a very well stocked pantry through the winter for personal reasons. I avoid shopping and as many public situations as possible during the virus and flu seasons. My MS treatments do wonders with keeping my MS from attacking but unfortunately it depletes my immune system so if there's a virus to catch, I'll catch it lol. We just welcomed a foster placement of 2 brothers 2 weeks ago and I already caught a cold from them.....so although that was avoidable, I at least didnt have to be sick AND grocery shop :) It's been my way of life for 3 years and Im never going back to a standard pantry and weekly grocery living ever again! You have a great pantry and a lot of hard work goes into it. Great job!!!

When I make ramen for the kids as a quick meal our rule of thumb to make it complete is add veggies n a protein source .. I had some chicken from a rotisserie and threw in peas n carrots n green beans it was filling! Also I add a raw egg and let it cook with the ramen and it’s like having egg drop soup with noodles

Hi Enjoyed your pantry tour! You could use up some of your fruit cocktail with Dolly Partons Cuppa cake to use it up. It’s really easy and simple, just a cup of self rising flour, a cup of sugar and a cup of fruit cocktail. I don’t can bean soup but I like to can baked beans and chili beans. They taste so much better than store bought. Hope you have a great night!

I use tomato powder in everything. Just for flavor even when I dont want a tomato flavor, I will add a small amount to brown gravy or roasts. It just gives it a depth of flavor, it is almost like it intensifies the other flavors you are using without the tomato flavors. I do not know if I explained that well but it is so good. I even use it to make pasta noodles 🤗 with a little seasonings, it is delishous. I use it in my broths for canning. Hope it helps. God bless

Hi, from across the pond! I’ve started recently to store additional food, and invested in a dehydrator. I’ve made mirepoix, dehydrated apples, onions, and mushrooms to date. I’m dairy allergic so tend to cook everything from scratch, so ready mix cakes and sauces are mainly a nono, but I do buy vegan mayo in larger quantities just in case! Food prep hasn’t been a big thing over here, so for most of us Brits, it’s a whole new world, so great to see your pantry!

Please pass along your cranberry recipes, especially the granola. Thank you! I keep my homecanned goods for 5 years. If I haven't used it by then I dump it. If it's stored in a cool dark place it will be fine. I've had very few jars unseal but I always watch those lids just in case. My grandmother was from Croatia. She was a trained chef and worked for the head judge in her town until she married and came to Detroit. My grandfather owned a bar in Dearborn by Fords Rouge factory. Grandma would cook and the men who worked at Ford would come for lunch. The mayor often came also. Like your Grandma everything she made was from scratch. And the baking she could do!! Walnut tortes that contained no flour! She would make strudel dough on a white linen tablecloth on her kitchen table. She would walk around the table stretching the dough with her fingertips and never tear it. It was thin enough to read a newspaper through. She lived to cook!! Grapefruit juice and grapefruit is a no no if you take a statin for cholesterol. That makes me sad because I love grapefruit! Thank you for the pantry tour! I enjoyed seeing it!!

And it was really wonderful and I do love it but that is something that I haven't find in the grocery stores down here in Florida. I wanted to do some with ham hocks but the price of ham hock was over my budget so when the hams were on sale that's when I got that. But I do love watching your channel and the things that you do. what went wrong with the oil free pump if I may ask. I know last year just after we got our freeze dryer we had to send it back in because it had a leak in the cooling system. They fixed it and sent it back and was wonderful. I will be curious to find how much more electricity it uses.
