I want to give EVERY young collector out there some advice....buy the cards you like that you want to keep in your collection, DO NOT buy cards as an "investment". Look at all the players who came out with great hype, who's cards skyrocketed right out of the gate, only to drop right back to earth. I have been guilty of that too. Lafreniere, Eichel, Nolan Patrick.

It depends on your approach. You can own cards that just so happen to increase in price. Or you can strategically purchase cards that can significantly grow year after year. I get your sentiment, but your inability to capitalize on rookies doesn't mean it's not an investment. There are many people who have careers based on buying and selling cards

@@robtalkshockeycards I appreciate you taking the time to reply to my comment. If you buy the cards of your favourite players, regardless of the value of that card, it's a player you like. I personally buy the cards of players I like, with no plans on selling them. In my opinion hockey card "investors" kind of ruin the hobby for collectors. The value of my collection over the last 5 years or so has skyrocketed. I have cards that I bought 20+ years ago, like my Bobby Orr rookie, Gordie Howe rookie, Cyclone Taylor from 1910-11, that I could never afford to collect now because prices have gone insane. I have no plans on selling any of them, but a person collecting those same cards now would have to have a lot of money. That is my issue with card speculators and investors.

Yeah that's fair. The prices of boxes then in turn cards has gotten outrageous. With that being said there's pro's and con's. Lot's of older cards have significantly increased in value which eases the pain

@@carletonrutherford1799 ok boomer. I’ve been in this “hobby” for the past 35 years. I knew you had no clue where this hobby is right now if you’re mentioning anything Orr related. It’s you muppets claiming to know more than the average card enthusiast. I’ve owned my shop since 92, the market has changed but so has the collector and the hobby. I don’t agree with grading with PSA anymore though, especially hockey, you boys are going to be in for a rude awakening when you go to sell your PSA 10 and realize they are a dime a dozen. That’s really the only thing the new breed can’t seem to comprehend.

Not bashing the card or anything but I was honestly surprised that the Pettersson YG received a 10. I immediately noticed that the top left corner was a little rounded when you pulled it out. Congrats nonetheless!

PSA grades cards by throwing a dart at a board full of numbers and seeing which gets hit.

Nice video… MNT may be a smaller company currently but consensus seems to be that they grade significantly tougher than PSA and around the same level as BGC. Nice cards!

There was definitely some hidden issues with the 2nd print of UD2. I killed it the first time on YG’s. Went 0/4 on McTavish the second round and 5/7 the first time.

Just wanted to say, in my opinion, MNT does not grade high. 10's from them are very hard to get. In fact, I would say an MNT 9.5 will almost always grade PSA 10. PSA hands out 10's like candy on Halloween.

Rob I like you and your videos but please research before saying stuff, MNT is actually one of the harder grading companies next to BGS The boeser is also a rookie tribute and not actually even a rookie card from 18/19 clearcut and not SPA and PSA Petterson is not a $250 dollar card , it is consistently selling for 125 to 130 US or 170 to 175 Canadian
@robtalkshockeycards
Жыл бұрын
True. What I was trying to say is that MNT has worse resale. And the Boeser is a Tribute Rookie, and Pettersson has multiple recent sales fluctuating between $200-$250 which will only go up as he continues to produce
