REMEMBER!!!.....WHEN USING A WIRE WHEEL....if you are buffing an item that has edges, corners, or possibly bolts or studs protruding from it ....to buff in the direction that if your wheel hits these protrusions it will knock the grinder out of your hand and AWAY from your body......a wire wheel, unlike a grinding disc doesn't cut into flesh ..it actually removes it in a brutal fashion creating a very wide wound that is difficult to pull together and stitch up....take it from a guy that has a huge scar just below his lip!!!....was using a wire wheel in the wrong direction..it caught on a threaded stud and sent the grinder into my face...it was like being punched by a really big guy and put a hole under my bottom lip I could just about stick my tounge through... Always ...ALWAYS WEAR A FACE SHIELD AND PROTECTIVE LENSES...WIRES FROM THE wheel are notorious for finding their way under a face shield and God only knows...someHOW into your eye... A grinder is your best friend!!! Just respect it.... ☮️

This is not a "how-to" video. It just shows one way to make small anvil. Made with the "hardest" way, which is actually very simple process. Making took 7 cut off wheels ( some of them we're already used ), one 8mm grinding wheel, flap wheel and two different grade fibre disc. Making took a day, and it wasn't very " hard work". So, this kind of builds are very easy to make at home, without specific tools. It just takes some elbow crease...

not really, that harbor freigth anvil is garbage. Even with set blows on hot stell you leave severe indents on that thing. Way to soft of cast metal to do anything with. Old time anvils are as much as 3 bucks a pound anymore and these foot long rail road tracks are only 20 bucks. 10 bucks worth of sanding discs and you got yourself a purpose made anvil for 30 bucks. Take it to your local machine shop and get the surface milled down for 20 bucks and you got a great tool!
@chrismc410

@@ronniepaulinc or the scrap yard might have a 2' x 2' x 3' chunk of solid steel, welding rods, a rented arc welder, a 1" x 1" x 12" 12 gauge, square tubing Then you have something to beat steel on and instant hardy hole for less than $150 all said and done.

I'm enjoying all of your work so far so big thumbs up. We live in a world where we expect everything instantly and rewards the same. It's great to see the time and most of all Effort someone puts into creating something out of essentially Nothing but a piece of scrap. Yes it's wear and tear on the tools and grinder discs. Chances are it's better than you could buy and hey you made it and many time those things are passed to another who will greatly appreciate the quality and attention to detail you have paid to it. And most importantly the craft continues and you inspire others to Try. Good on you.
