My childhood dream was to build an RC buggy, 1:1 size and drive it all over the mountains next to the city i live in.
Before 11 years, at the age of 28, i made my second attempt, building that single seat off road formula, in four months period using infos i found on the internet those days.
My first choise was a Yamaha Diversion 400cc engine because i thougth it was capable to move fast my rear wheel drive, 400 kilos buggy.
The fact that the physical position of the motor on vehicles like that, to be behind the driver's seat, was the reason of the engine's overheat, as fresh air couldnt rediuse high temperature, when you push it on the limits. After some fruitless attempts with overheating I ended up changing the engine by choosing a bigger and the same time oil-cooled one.
Suzuki's GSX 750 engine was a reliable and low budget solution since there were quite a few such motorcycles on second-hand market. With the oil cooler mounted over the driver's head now the engine breathing satisfactorily.
The tubular frame was my own design and concept according to the suspension travel and the low driving position I wanted to achieve even though the vehicle is intended for off road use.
You can watch some of the building prosses, as well as the experience of driving my homemade off-road buggy in the video above.
